Israeli soldiers invaded Thursday, Beit Ta’mar Palestinian village, east of the West Bank city of Bethlehem, and started firing live rounds at students, teachers and officials of the Ministry of Education, during a school celebration.
Media sources said the soldiers, and many illegal colonialist settlers, surrounded the area, before the army attacked the children, staffers and families, who were celebrating, singing and performing Dabka, in the Tahadi Basic School in the village. The very presence of the soldiers and the settlers caused fear in many children, who started crying before the soldiers fired many gas bombs and concussion grenades at the school, resulting in injuries, while many children suffered anxiety attacks. |
Palestinian Education Minister Sabri Saidam denounced the serious Israeli violations and attacks against the children.
“The children were just celebrating, there are no words to describe the serious assault,” he said, “the army hurt those children, and replaced their songs with cries, tears and terror.”
The head of the Bethlehem branch of the Minister of Education, Sami Marwa, said education ministry officials, and representatives of the UNESCO in Palestine, were visiting the school, before the soldiers opened fire.

The Health Ministry in the Gaza Strip has confirmed that one Palestinian was killed by Israeli army fire, Friday, while 37 others were injured, during the Great Return March processions near the eastern borders of the besieged Gaza Strip.
Dr. Ashraf al-Qedra, the spokesperson of the Health Ministry in Gaza, has reported that a young man, identified as Rami Wael Ishaq Qahman, 28, was shot and seriously injured, before he was rushed to the Gaza European Hospital, where he died from his wounds.
The Palestinian was shot with a live round in the neck, east of Rafah, in the southern part of the Gaza Strip., Dr. al-Qedra added.
He also confirmed that at least 37 Palestinians were injured with Israeli live ammunition, including six children, nine women and one female paramedic, identified as Falasteen Qdeih, who was shot in the leg.
Hundreds of Palestinian protesters held protests close to the eastern borders of the Gaza Strip; tires were set on fire across several areas while Israeli forces fired live ammunition and tear-gas bombs to suppress protesters.
According to the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza, 221 Palestinians have been killed since the beginning of “The Great March of Return” on March 30th, while more than 24,000 others have been injured.
“The Great March of Return” protests were launched with the participation of thousands of Palestinian civilians in Gaza — which has suffered from a decade-long Israeli siege — who took to the borders to demand their right of return as refugees to their original homelands, now in present-day Israel.

For nearly seven months, Palestinians in the Gaza Strip have protested along the fence with Israel demanding their right to return to the homes and land their families were expelled from 70 years ago.
They are also demanding an end to Israel's crippling blockade of the Gaza Strip, which has gutted the coastal enclave's economy and deprived its two million inhabitants of many basic commodities.
Since the Great March of Return demonstrations began on March 30, more than 200 Palestinians have been killed and thousands more wounded by Israeli troops deployed along the other side of the fence.

The occupation army threatened severe punishment over the projected reconstruction of the memorial or the construction of others.
At the same time, Israeli forces targeted Palestinian locals with spates of bullet fire and teargas, sparking clashes.

Israeli military bulldozers on Wednesday morning carried out a limited incursion into a southern border area in the besieged Gaza Strip.
A reporter for the Palestinian Information Center (PIC) said that four armored bulldozers moved from a military post and headed for the east of Abasan area in Khan Younis.
He added that the bulldozers embarked on razing and leveling vast tracts of agricultural land in the area.

Media sources in Nablus said many army jeeps invaded Amman Street, and the areas surrounding Joseph’s Tomb, east of the city, and attacked dozens of protesters, wounding at least twenty.

They added that the soldiers fired a barrage of gas and concussion grenades at the protesters in addition to a number of homes and shops, causing fire in a shop for selling spare parts for vehicles.
The head of the Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PRCS) in Nablus, Ahmad Jibreel, said a young man suffered a fracture in the arm, while another young man was shot with live rounds in his leg, before the two were rushed to Rafidia Hospital.
He added that several Palestinians were shot with rubber-coated steel bullets, and fourteen others suffered the effects of teargas inhalation, and received the needed treatment by PRCS medics.
In related news, the soldiers stopped an ambulance transporting an elderly woman to a hospital, in the eastern part of Nablus, and forced the ambulance to turn around and look for alternate, longer roads.
Furthermore, the soldiers invaded the Dahia area in Nablus city, and Kafr Qalil town, east of the city, before invading the home of Yasser Afeef Amer, and searched the property, in addition to occupying its rooftop to use it as a monitoring post.
The army also abducted a young man, identified as Ahmad Anan Mansour, 19, from his home in the city, after invading and reaching it.
The Patriarch Joseph is revered by Jews, Muslims, Christians and Samaritans, but Israel only allows Jews into the shrine, as they believe the tomb to be his final resting place.
Palestinians generally hold that the tomb is the funerary monument to Sheikh Yousef Dweikat, a local religious and social figure.
