Israeli naval forces, Saturday morning, opened live fire at Palestinian fishing boats off the coast of the northern Gaza Strip.
Witnesses told Ma’an News Agency that Israeli forces opened fire at fishermens’ boats in the north of the besieged enclave. No injuries were reported.
An Israeli army spokesperson said that they were “looking into reports”.
Israeli military incursions inside the besieged Gaza Strip and near the “buffer zone” which lies on both land and sea sides of Gaza, have long been a near-daily occurrence.
Palestinians who work near the zone often come under fire from military forces, as the Israeli military has not made clear the precise area of the designated zone.
The Israeli army regularly open fires on Palestinian fishermen and farmers along the border areas, despite a ceasefire agreement that ended the 2014 war.
The practice has in effect destroyed much of the agricultural and fishing sectors of the blockaded coastal enclave.
Israeli forces also regularly detain Palestinian fisherman off the coast of Gaza working within the fishing zone, generally for alleged “security reasons”.
According to the Palestinian Center for Human Rights (PCHR), Israeli forces detained 71 fishermen and confiscated 22 fishing boats throughout 2015.
The center said that Israeli naval forces also opened fire on Palestinian fishermen at least 139 times over the course of the year, wounding 24 and damaging 16 fishing boats.
“These attacks occurred in a time where the fishers did not pose any threat to the Israeli naval troops, as they were doing their job to secure a living,” PCHR said.

A number of university students and members of the faculty in the Arab-American University in Jenin, in the northern occupied West Bank, suffered from gas inhalation on Saturday, after Israeli forces fired tear gas inside the campus, said witnesses.
Witnesses told WAFA correspondence that Israeli soldiers surrounded the campus before raiding it and firing tear gas canisters at the students and staff, causing several cases of suffocation.
The Israeli army regularly carries out attacks with deliberate and reckless use of force against schools and other educational facilities across the West Bank in a serious violation of international law and students’ right to pursue education in a safe environment.
The Global Coalition to protect Education from Attack (GCPEA) said that “during situations of armed conflict, attacks on education may violate international humanitarian and criminal law and constitute war crimes (or crimes against humanity during war or peacetime) as set out in the 1907 Hague Regulations, the 1949 Geneva Conventions and their Additional Protocols, the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court, and customary international humanitarian law.”

The Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) prevented Friday a Palestinian citizen from completing the construction of his home in the Old Town of al-Khalil to the south of the West Bank.
"Israeli forces violently stormed the area and attacked my family without any reason," Aref Jaber, the home’s owner, said.
"They forced us to leave amid heavy firing of teargas bombs," he added. During the raid, an Israeli officer informed Jaber that his house is located near a closed military zone.
Jaber launched a cry for help especially in light of his very difficult living conditions as his family became homeless.
Meanwhile, Israeli municipal crews in occupied Jerusalem stormed Bassatin neighborhood in Silwan town to the south of al-Aqsa Mosque and filmed all local houses and commercial shops before handing over demolition orders against a number of them.
The demolition notifications were issued under the pretext that the Palestinian facilities were built without permit, a local activist said.
Israeli authorities have previously threatened to demolish the whole neighborhood in 2004 as a prelude to establish a Talmudic garden for Israeli settlers. The neighborhood which includes more than 100 homes inhabited by 1,600 people is subjected to weekly provocative raids.

Dozens of youths were injured with rubber bullets and tear gas bombs during the attack, local sources reported.
A journalist was directly hit in his neck with a tear gas bomb during Kafer Qaddum weekly march, the sources added.
Violent clashes broke out in Silwad town and Jalazoun refugee camp. Three Palestinians including a journalist were injured during the reported clashes. Local residents also suffered tear gas suffocation as Israeli forces fired a barrage of tear gas bombs towards their homes.
At least five family members including children and women were taken to hospital following the attack. In Tulkarem, a group of settlers attacked a Palestinian vehicle near Anab checkpoint east of the city.
Two Palestinians were injured during the settlers’ attack. In Nablus, clashes erupted as Israeli forces stormed Beit Furik town amid heavy fire of tear gas bombs. No injuries were reported during the confrontation.

soldiers fired more gas bombs, concussion grenades, and rubber-coated steel bullets.
Eshteiwy added that one of the gas bombs struck a photojournalist, identified as Nidal Eshteyya, in the back of his head, before medics rushed him to Rafidia Hospital, in the northern West Bank district of Nablus.
He also said that the soldiers fired dozens of gas bombs at the protesters, and many homes in Kufur Qaddoum, causing dozens of residents, including five family members, to suffer the severe effects of teargas inhalation.
The army also sprayed the protesters, and many homes with wastewater mixed with chemicals.
Local sources in the village said the soldiers have recently started a very serious escalation campaign against Kufur Qaddoum, especially by deliberately destroying water pipelines and electricity networks, in addition to installing roadblocks and restricting the freedom of movement of the residents.
Kufur Qaddoum residents started their weekly protests more than 13 years ago, after the army completely closed the village’s main road to enable easy access to the Israeli colonists, driving to and from the illegal Kedumim colony, that was built on privately-owned Palestinian lands.
In related news, dozens of Palestinian, Israeli and international peace activists marched, Friday, against the Israeli Annexation Wall and colonies, in Bil’in village near Ramallah, raised Palestinian and Scottish flags to thank the Scottish activists for supporting Palestine during the soccer match between Scottish and Israeli teams.

A Palestinian family from Jerusalem managed, on Thursday at dawn, to hold a funeral and burial ceremony for their son, who was shot dead by Israeli soldiers 324 days ago, after he, and another Palestinian, reportedly killed three Israelis in Armon Hanetziv colony, built on Palestinian lands in Jabal al-Mokabber town, in Jerusalem.
The Israeli army imposed severe restrictions and installed many roadblocks, in addition to preventing the Palestinians, and journalists, from documenting the funeral and burial ceremonies, at the Mujahidin Graveyard, in Salaheddin Street, in Jerusalem.
The Israeli military only allowed 25 Palestinians to participate in the funeral, after subjecting them to extensive and provocative searches, in addition to confiscating their phones.
The Israeli military and security forces have tried, for several months, to pressure the family of Baha’ Oleyyan, 22, into burying their slain son in previously determined locations, including the West Bank, and tried to limit the number of funeral participants, but the family kept rejecting the Israeli preconditions.
Baha’s father said it was very difficult for the family to identify their slain son, especially due to postmortem issues, including skin color, face and eyes, and added that the corpse was not frozen, but very cold.
The Wadi Hilweh Information Center in Silwan (Silwanic) said the soldiers imposed a very strict siege on all roads surrounding the graveyard, especially Salaheddin Street, Sahera Gate and Sultan Suleiman Street, and prevented the Palestinians from entering these areas for more than three hours.
It added that undercover forces of the Israeli military were also extensively deployed in the area, especially on junctions and roads leading around the graveyard, in addition to closing the Sahera Gate.
The soldiers also assaulted many Palestinian journalists, violently removed them from the Sahera Gate and Salaheddin Street, and forced them to stand in the Tribes Gate area.
Following the funeral, the soldiers assaulted many family members, including Baha’s father, and refused to allow him to talk to the journalists who had to stand far from Sahera Gate and Salaheddin Street.
Eyewitnesses said the soldiers also fired several concussion grenades and sound bombs at many Palestinians, and prevented them from even approaching the Oleyyan family.Israel claims that Elian and another Palestinian killed three Israelis, after one of them grabbed a gun from a bus passenger and began shooting.
Israel is still holding the corpses of twelve Palestinians, who were killed since October 1st of 2015, two of them are from Jerusalem.

Israeli soldiers attacked, on Tuesday evening, six young Palestinian soccer players in Bab Hatta neighborhood, in the Old City of occupied East Jerusalem, causing several cuts and bruises that required hospitalization.
The six Palestinians were walking in Bab Hatta before the soldiers surrounded them, and started beating them up with clubs and batons, and even with their guns, causing them to suffer various cuts and bruises.
Palestinian medics rushed to the scene, and moved the six young men to the al-Makassed hospital, in Jerusalem.
The six were still in their training shorts and suits when the soldiers assaulted them, just as they exited a playground following training.
On Wednesday morning, a number of Israeli extremists invaded the courtyards of the Al-Aqsa Mosque accompanied by several undercover officers.
Eyewitnesses said at least 65 extremists, accompanied by many soldiers and officers, invaded the mosque’s courtyards, and conducted a provocative tour, causing tension.

Several Israeli military vehicles invaded, on Wednesday morning, Palestinian agricultural lands east of the al-Boreij refugee camp, in central Gaza, bulldozed and uprooted some of them, and fired many rounds of live ammunition.
Eyewitnesses said four Israeli tanks, and two armored bulldozers, advanced more than 150 meters into Palestinian agricultural lands, east of al-Boreij, and started bulldozing them while army drones flew overhead.
They added that the soldiers also fired many live rounds to keep the Palestinian out of their own lands during the invasion.
The invasion is the latest violation targeting Palestinian lands close to the border fence, in the northern and eastern parts of the besieged coastal region, preventing the Palestinians from working in their own lands.
Such attacks are frequently accompanied by assaults targeting the fishers and their boats, in Palestinian territorial waters in the coastal region.

Children running away from the tear gas shot by Israeli Forces
On 29th August, 2016, Israeli forces at Salaymeh checkpoint, in occupied al-Khalil (Hebron), fired rounds of tear gas as school-children attempted to make their way home through the heavily militarised checkpoint.
The Salaymeh checkpoint, for many school-children, is one of the unavoidable checkpoints on the daily way to school and back home. At the highly militarised structures, the children attending schools and kindergartens in the area, are subject to bag-searches, harassment, questioning and detention by Israeli forces.
On Monday, the second day of school after the 3-month summer holidays, as children were starting to pour out of the schools around noon, Israeli forces threw a stun grenade towards a group of children. Instead, it landed right in front of a girl quietly making her way towards the checkpoint on her way home.
Scared by the stun grenade flying towards her and the lound boom of the explosion she ran away in the opposite direction in tears.
In the meantime, at the checkpoint, children were repeatedly yelled at ‘to wait’ as Israeli forces refused to open the gate for them to go through the checkpoint in order to reach the other side. Israeli forces were heard yelling at children several times, and ordered a few boys to show them their hands in order to ‘prove’ stone-throwing, if they are having dirty hands.
Just a little later, Israeli forces fired rounds of tear gas in the direction of the schools, thus collectivly punishing not only all the school-children, but the whole neighborhood. As the tear gas canisters spread their supposedly ‘less-lethal’ gas and covered the area with the poisonous gas, some children escaped the clouds crying with their eyes red from the gas and coughing when choking on the gas.
This kind of excessive force and collective punishment by Israeli forces, is just one aspect of the Israeli military occupation these school-children are forced to endure on a daily basis.
