Israeli soldiers opened fire at a Palestinian car at a military checkpoint near the southern West Bank city of Bethlehem, instantly killing the driver, according to reports.

While the identity of the Palestinian was not immediately known, the Palestinian Ministry of Health later confirmed his death.

A Palestinian prisoner serving an 8-year sentence for resisting the occupation has died in an Israeli jail this morning, according to the Palestinian Prisoner Society (PPS).
It said in a statement that Nour Jaber Barghouti, 23, from Aboud town near Ramallah who has been in prison for four years, fell unconscious in the bathroom in the Naqab prison in the south of Israel.
It said it took the prison administration more than half an hour to provide Barghouti with medical assistance only after prisoners started to shout for assistance.
However, the prisoner was later pronounced dead, said the PPS, holding the Israel Prisons Service responsible for his death for not providing him with immediate assistance, but rather stalling which led to his death.

Palestinian medical sources in the West Bank city of Nablus, pronounced dead, a young Palestinian man, after he had sustained wounds caused by Israeli troops, last month.
The sources identified the young man as Islam Dwaikat, 22, and said he was wounded by Israeli troops that opened fire at Palestinian protestors who defended against an Israeli invasion of Beita town, south of Nablus city.
Mayor of Beita town, Fo’ad Ma’ali, told local media outlets that on March 11, the youth was struck with a rubber-coated steel bullet in the head and has remained in a deep coma at a local hospital.
Violent confrontations took place last month, between Israeli troops and local residents in the Erma hilltop area when locals intercepted colonial Israeli settlers, en-route to the Palestinian-populated Erma hill top.
Israeli forces reacted by firing tear-gas canisters, rubber-coated steel bullets and live ammunition at Palestinians protecting their land.
The Israeli crackdown on the protests claimed the life of a teen boy, Mohammad Hamayel, 15 and caused the injury of 112 other protesters, mainly by rubber-coated steel bullets and tear-gas inhalation injuries.
Confrontations between local unarmed Palestinian protesters and Israeli troops, along with armed Israeli colonial settlers, across the occupied West Bank, take place on a regular basis.

A Palestinian citizen was shot dead by Israeli occupation forces (IOF) late Sunday at the entrance of Ni'lin village in the West Bank district of Ramallah.
The Palestinian Ministry of Health said in a brief statement that a Palestinian young man identified as Sufyan al-Khawaja died after being shot by the IOF.
Local sources reported that al-Khawaja was killed after the IOF opened fire at the car he was driving near Ni'lin.

In addition, a journalist working for the Palestinian TV, identified as Bakr Abdul-Haq, was shot with a rubber-coated steel bullet in his leg video, and at least thirteen other residents were shot with similar rounds. video video
The total number of injuries stood at more than 112 Palestinians at the time of this report, among them, 90 were suffered the severe effects of teargas inhalation, and eighteen who were shot with rubber-coated steel bullets.
The soldiers also abducted at least three young men, after more than 40 additional military vehicles invaded the area.
The protests are still ongoing as more soldiers and fanatic illegal colonists continue to flock to the mountain and prevented many Palestinian ambulances from approaching it.
The head of the Beita Fuad Maali Village Council told Wafa reporters that scores of illegal Israeli colonists began storming the mountain last night and are still in the place, explaining that hundreds of Palestinian citizens remain stationed on the mountain to repel their invasion.
Ghassan Douglas, a Palestinian Authority official who monitors Israel’s colonialist activities, said that there have been calls by colonists to storm the mountain, in an attempt to control an archaeological historical site above its summit, and install an illegal colony after occupying the entire Palestinian Mountain.

Israeli soldiers shot and injured 17 Palestinian civilians Tuesday with live bullets and rubber-coated metal bullets, as well as firing tear gas at demonstrators who gathered at the Al-Arma Mountain south of Nablus, in the northern West Bank.
The Head of the Committee Against the Israeli Wall and Settlements, Walid Assaf, was among those injured during the demonstration, which took place near the town of Beita, south of Nablus.
Two Palestinians were hit with live bullets and both are in serious condition at Rafidia Hospital. In addition, four Palestinians wounded from rubber-coated steel bullets were also taken to Rafidia. Three others were taken to Huwwara hospital with complications resulting from tear gas inhalation.
Among those injured was a reporter for Palestine TV, Bakr Abdel-Haq.
The Ministry of Health told reporters with the Palestinian Wafa news agency that the medical teams dealt with 17 injuries during the demonstrations taking place in the area, including two with live bullets, both of which are serious injuries.
The Israeli forces prevented ambulances from reaching the area, and the soldiers assaulted the Palestine TV crew.
