The army said the shooter apparently carried the attack out on his own, as he is not a member of any armed Palestinian group.
Israeli “Kan” News agency said the Palestinian security services are part of the search campaign to locate the shooter, although the incident took place in Area C of the West Bank, under full Israeli control.
It added that Palestinian workers in the Industrial Zone said the attack is apparently criminally motivated because the shooter was recently fired.

The police and IDF force closed the area and are searching for the perpetrator who resides in the village of Shweika near Tulkarem. According to estimations he is still armed.
The initial investigation indicates that the suspect arrived armed with an M-16 assault rifle to one of the offices in the Barkan industrial area, which symbolizes coexistence between Arab and Jews who work there together. He then went up to the second floor, opened fire, and injured three people.
The suspect worked for seven months in the industrial area and was granted a work permit which was supposed to expire next month.
Yossi Dagan, head of the Shomron Regional Council dubbed the incident as "a grave security incident."
"This is a serious incident in an area which symbolizes a bridge of coexistence in the West Bank. More than 8,000 employees work in the Barkan industrial area, with half of them being Jewish and half residents of the Palestinian Authority," he explained.
"I see here Arabs and Jews who sit together and cry," he exclaimed.
"I want to stress one thing—this incident is very grave, but we'll never break. The Zionist enterprise will continue operating in the West Bank as well as all over Israel with vigor," he asserted.
"We will continue developing the settlements, the education and the industry. This despicable incident won't deter us. We will never break," he stated.
The Hamas terror organization welcomed the terror attack. "The Barkan shooting is a new chapter in our resistance in the West Bank," Hamas said.
"The incident has proven that ant attempts of the Palestinian Authority to normalize relations with the Zionist occupier are unsuccessful.
"The Palestinian youth wants confrontation, "the terror organization added.
Daoud Shehab, an Islamic Jihad spokesman, described the shooting attack as reply to "Israel's war crimes in Gaza, Jerusalem, the Bedouin village of Khan al-Ahmar and the damage Israel causes to the al-Aqsa mosque."
"We call on our people to rise up against the settlements terror until the West Bank is freed from it," he added.

Hava Roizin 42
42-year-old Hava Roizin was killed on Thursday evening after a man in his 60 ran her over and fled before turning himself in to the Palestinian police in what IDF, Shin Bet say was likely a car accident, not a terror attack.
The Israeli woman killed by a Palestinian man on Thursday in what is suspected of being a hit-and-run car accident has been identified as 42-year-old Hava Roizin from Emanuel.
Roizin was run over near Havat Gilad by a Palestinian man in his 60s driving a taxi, who later turned himself in to the Palestinian police in Nablus. He said he fled because he was afraid.
The Emanuel Local Council issued a statement saying: “We are with the husband and family in this difficult hour.”
Roizin was killed after being hit by what was said to be a Palestinian taxi at a junction on Highway 60 near the Havat Gilad.
She was seriously hurt in the incident, and paramedics at the scene had to declare her dead after resuscitation efforts failed.
Yossi Dagan, the head of the Samaria Regional Council, immediately asserted the incident was a terror attack.
"The junction is lighted... there are no signs of an attempt to stop—not before the spot and not after. Meaning, the driver was not surprised by the crash.
As far as we're concerned, this is a serious terror attack, a cold-blooded murder, of a residents of the Samaria on a central road in the State of Israel," Dagan said.
However, on Friday morning, the IDF Spokesperson’s Unit said that an initial investigation by the army and the Shin Bet into an incident was most likely a car accident rather than a terror attack.
“That said, an investigation in another direction has not yet been ruled out,” a statement said.
Palestinian man turn himself in after fatal collision with Israeli settler
A Palestinian taxi driver, in his sixties, turned himself in to the Palestinian Authority on Thursday evening after the vehicle he was driving hit an Israeli settler. The settler, 42-year-old Hava Rozin, died from her injuries.
After turning himself in, the taxi driver said that he initially fled the scene because he was terrified after he hit the Israeli settler that he would be shot. But after leaving the settler road, he immediately went to the Palestinian Authority in Nablus to report what had happened and turn himself in.
Israeli authorities have, on a number of occasions, shot on site Palestinian drivers who have had traffic accidents with Israeli vehicles, so his fear was not without basis.
The Israeli Intelligence Service Shin Bet announced early Friday morning that there was no evidence that this was a terror attack, saying instead that it was clear that it was a traffic accident.
Nevertheless, dozens of Israeli settlers set off throughout the night into Palestinian areas to carry out ‘revenge attacks’. Gangs of Israeli colonial settlers hurled stones and empty bottles at Palestinian cars in several areas, including near Yitzhar colony, Huwwara and Za’tara military roadblocks, causing damage to more than 40 Palestinian cars, and several injuries.
They also attacked several homes in Jaloud village, and closed many main roads in Nablus governorate, in addition to burning a Palestinian car, owned by Mohammad Issa Makhlouf, in Orif village.
The Israeli assailants also tried to burn a number of homes in Jaloud, but the locals clashed with them, before the army invaded the village and removed the settlers.
They also cut around 200 Palestinian olive trees, owned by Na’el ‘Oweisat, in the al-Lubban ash-Sharqiya village, south of Nablus.
In addition, the colonists invaded a cement slab manufacturing plant, and burnt a bulldozer, owned by Mohammad Issa Makhlouf.

Earlier this year, Rabbi Raziel Shevah was murdered outside Havat Gilad in a drive-by shooting. Ahmed Nassar Jarrar, the head of the terror cell responsible for Rabbi Shevah's murder, was shot dead during a standoff with Israeli security forces almost a month later.
Several days before the terror attack that claimed Rabbi Shevah's life, security forces were looking into information about an armed Palestinian in the area.
Israeli settler dead in car ramming attack
An Israeli woman was proclaimed dead on Thursday evening in the northern West Bank city of Nablus after being struck by a Palestinian car.
Israeli media sources said that the woman, in her thirties, was hit by the vehicle on Route 60, near the Havat Gilad settlement outpost.
The incident appeared to have occurred near the site of a similar anti-occupation attack in January, when Israeli Rabbi Raziel Shevach was shot dead by a Hamas cell.
Immediately after the incident, Israeli forces erected roadblocks in the area and at the entrance to the Palestinian city of Nablus and inspected vehicles in an effort to arrest the suspect who fled the scene.

The bereaved father calls for the death penalty in a letter addressed to government ministers, which he intends to read in front of the judges; 'It must be the first in a series of steps that will change reality and give hope to the people of Israel'; Im Tirtzu's CEO: 'giving terrorists the death penalty is life-saving.'
Ahead of Tuesday's trial of Islam Yusuf Hamid—the terrorist who killed Staff Sgt. Ronen Lubarsky two months ago, the Duvdevan soldier’s father, Vladimir Lubarsky, asked the trial’s judges to give the defendant a death penalty.
Staff Sgt. Ronen Lubarsky, a 20-year-old Rehovot resident, was a member of the army's elite Duvdevan Unit and was acting as part of the force that was serving an arrest warrant in the al-Am'ari refugee camp near Ramallah. An inquiry into the incident revealed that a large marble slab hit his head.
After receiving emergency medical attention in the field, Staff Sgt. Lubarsky was taken to the hospital and hospitalized in its intensive care unit, where he was later pronounced dead.
Following the attack, soldiers from the IDF's elite Duvdevan unit raided a Refugee Camp in the late morning hours and pulled the terrorist who killed their friend Ronen, out of bed. The terrorist was arrested and brought to Israel to stand trial.
The terrorist Hamid, who was hiding in a different house in the crowded and violent refugee camp, has already served five years in Israeli prison for his involvement in a Hamas-led shooting attack.
Hamid comes from a family of Hamas terrorists behind several attacks that killed Israelis in the past.
Four of his brothers, also Hamas members, are serving life sentences for their involvement in murderous terror attacks during the second intifada, including the 2002 Seafood Market attack in Tel Aviv that claimed the lives of three Israelis.
One of the brothers is serving a life sentence for the 1994 shooting of Shin Bet operative Noam Cohen.
Half of the Hamid family is affiliated with Hamas and the other with Fatah. Hamid's elder brother is one of the founders of the al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades and the right hand of Marwan Barghouti.
None of the Hamid brothers who were sentenced to life had been released in the Gilad Shalit prisoner exchange deal.
In a letter addressed to government ministers, which he intends to read before the judges, Ronen's father writes: "Let us restore deterrence and save lives, as my late son did and our soldiers keep on doing day after day, night after night."
"The trial of my son's murderer must be the first in a series of steps that will change reality and give hope to the people of Israel," he stressed.
"Five brothers of the terrorist who murdered Ronen committed terrorist attacks, in which nine people were murdered. Four brothers were sentenced to cumulative life sentences and the fifth brother was killed during his arrest," Lubarsky added.
"It is possible that if all five brothers were sentenced to death, Ronen's life would have been spared. Only the death penalty guarantees that terrorists will not return to the cycle of terrorism. "
Matan Peleg, CEO of right-wing organization Im Tirtzu, who accompanies the Lubarsky family together with the "Choosing Life" forum of beraved families explained on Sunday why he supports the father's request.
"The circle of terror must be cut off, and only real deterrence can do so. Thus, giving terrorists the death penalty and banishing terrorists' family members are essentially life-saving measures."

Dozens of Israeli soldiers invaded, on Monday at dawn, Kobar village, northwest of Ramallah in central West Bank, and handed a demolition order against the family home of a Palestinian, who was killed in July on this year, after killing an Israeli colonialist settler.
Media sources in Ramallah said the soldiers surrounded the village, before invading it, and handed the order to the family of Mohammad Tareq Dar Yousef, 17.
It is worth mentioning that Mohammad was killed June 26th, 2018, after he managed to climb over the fence into the illegal Israeli settlement of Geva Binyamin, which had been built on Palestinian lands taken from Kobar, and stabbed three people, killing one, identified as Yotam Ovadia, 31, before he was shot and killed.
The policy of demolishing the homes of Palestinians who carried out, or suspected of carrying out attacks against Israelis, including soldiers and settlers, is an act of collective punishment, illegal under International Law.
Israeli army threatens demolition of home of slain Palestinian
The Israeli army Monday notified the family of Mohammad Tareq Dar Yousef that their home in Ramallah’s village of Kober is going to be demolished as a punishment for an anti-occupation attack carried out by their son.
According to local sources, Israeli army patrols raided the village at predawn time and posted the demolition order on Dar Yousef’s family home.
on July 26, Mohamed Tareq carried out an anti-occupation stabbing attack near Adam settlement outpost, illegally built on Palestinian lands, before he was fatally gunned down by Israeli forces. An Israeli soldier was pronounced dead and two settlers wounded in the attack.
Demolition is a collective punishment policy Israel always implements against relatives of Palestinians involved in anti-occupation attacks.
The Israeli army had regularly raided Kober from the time the incident took place, breaking into and ransacking civilian homes, detaining residents, setting roadblocks and chasing down anti-occupation youth.
