In a new racist move, the Israeli authorities in Beersheba city have decided to immediately silence the public address system in Arabic language on the city’s buses.
At the behest of Beersheba mayor Ruvik Danilovich, the Israeli ministry of transportation instructed the Dan Bus Company to remove Arabic voice announcements aboard its public buses.
Danilovich justified his racist step by saying that he responded to local Jewish-Israeli residents who lodged complaints to the company and the Beersheba's city hall over announcing bus stops in Arabic besides Hebrew.
Speaking to an Israeli channel, the mayor claimed further that Arabic would be included on Beersheba buses once "it is implemented in all of Israel.”
This measure has been deplored by Arab citizens of Israel as racist and part of the incitement campaign that was launched by the government of Benjamin Netanyahu against Arab citizens during the recent wildfires that hit the country.
Beersheba is a 200,000-person city in the country's southern Negev region.
Many of the passengers on Beersheba buses and trains are Arab residents of the city and its environs, and the public address system in Arabic is designed to serve them.
Arabic is an officially recognized language in Israel. By law, government ministries have to issue all official announcements, advertisements and official forms in both Hebrew and Arabic, and people are entitled to address local authorities and government bodies in Hebrew or Arabic.

At least 58 Israeli settlers, escorted by police officers, stormed on Sunday morning the plazas of the holy al-Aqsa Mosque—the third holiest site in Islam.
Hordes of Israeli settlers defiled the plazas of the holy al-Aqsa Mosque for over a couple of hours and a half under a tight security shield by heavily-armed Israeli cops.
The Israeli fanatics reportedly performed Talmudic rituals in the al-Aqsa compound, stirring the anger of the peaceful Muslim worshipers and sit-inners.
The Quds Press International News Agency said 1,346 Israelis, including 129 police and intelligence officers, broke into al-Aqsa Mosque during the past month of November.

Israeli Army Minister Avigdor Lieberman called Saturday for postponing outpost regulation bill vote until after U.S. newly elected President Donald Trump’s inauguration.
Addressing the Saban Forum in Washington, Lieberman said that “the key to the future of the settlements is getting understandings with the U.S. on this issue.”
There is no peace with Palestinians, he said, holding PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas responsible for the suspension of the peace process.
He pointed out that Abbas’s recent statements of the Palestinian right of return are not acceptable.
The Palestinian right of return means the end of Israeli state, he said.
Lieberman expressed hope that President-elect Donald Trump will play an active role in ending the war in Syria and will be very tough with Iran.
“We need an active America in the Middle East.”
The Brookings Institution’s annual Saban Forum, hosted by Israeli-American billionaire Haim Saban, has in the past provided a venue for top Israeli and American diplomats to appraise their challenges and to outline their vision for the Middle East.

At least 157 Israeli fanatic settlers on Thursday morning stormed the holy al-Aqsa Mosque via the Maghareba Gate.
The break-in was carried out under a tight shield by the Israeli special units and rapid intervention cops, who cordoned off the plazas of the Mosque so as to set the stage for the break-in.
The occupation police closed the Maghareba Gate after 119 settlers, 36 students, and two intelligence officers broke into the site.
The Israeli fanatics performed provocative rituals while the peaceful Muslim worshipers kept chanting “Allahu Akbar” (Allah is the Greatest) in protest at the sacrilegious assault.
At the same time, a number of Muslim women are still prohibited from entering the holy site to perform their prayers due to a ban slapped by the Israeli occupation authorities a few months earlier.

The Israeli municipality in Occupied Jerusalem okayed a plan to construct an escalator leading to the Buraq Square, near the holy al-Aqsa Mosque.
The plan includes the construction of two tunnels, one vertical the other horizontal, in order to smooth settlers’ access into al-Buraq Square.
The decision was reached during a session held Monday to discuss the bid, following ten months of ongoing planning and follow-up. Construction works are expected to materialize on the ground in the near future.
A vertical tunnel is to be dug at a 25-meter depth in the Buraq Square, near the so-called Wailing Wall Synagogue, on the eastern edge of al-Sharaf neighborhood. Another 60-meter long horizontal tunnel figures on the plan.
The electric elevator will be set in the vertical tunnel while the horizontal tunnel will serve as a pedestrian bridge carrying Israelis to the Buraq Square.
The project, which would cost $9 million, is to be called “Baruch” in honor of the Jewish businessman Baruch Klein who donated the money to get the project moving.

Daraghmeh called on human rights organizations to support the residents till restoring their land.
He pointed out that the settlers broke into the land under the protection of Israeli occupation forces.
Few weeks ago, the Israeli Supreme Court ordered the return of 3,500 dunums in Sacut town to their Palestinian owners.

A horde of Jewish settlers on Sunday afternoon reappropriated a vast tract of Palestinian-owned agricultural land in Ein al-Sakut hamlet, north of the Jordan Valley.
A local resident told the Palestinian Information Center (PIC) that the villagers were able recently to obtain an Israeli court verdict that gave them back part of their lands that had been seized by settlers in a previous incident.
He affirmed that this court verdict, however, was never respected by Jewish settlers living near their hamlet.
He added that a group of settlers seized once again on Sunday their agricultural land and embarked on cultivating it for their own use.
