Riot begins when word gets out that police came to arrest an army deserter; rioters overturned police vehicle; large police force sent to rescue fellow officers.
Military policemen who arrived at an ultra-Orthodox neighborhood in Ashdod on Monday night to arrest an army deserter were attacked by protesters.
The riot began once word that military police had arrived in the neighborhood got out. Tens of ultra-Orthodox men came, surrounded the police vehicle, and began to insult them. The rioters then overturned the vehicle.
A large police force was then sent to the scene and they rescued the military police and dispersed the crowd. Several police cars were slightly damaged as a result of stone throwing.
Last month, dozens of ultra-Orthdox people demonstrated outside the Jerusalem Magistrate Court, protesting the arrest of three ultra-Orthodox men who were suspected of leading a smear campaign against ultra-Orthodox IDF soldiers. The extremists exposed the personal details of "hunters" – the soldiers and officers in the department in charge of integrating the ultra-Orthodox public in the IDF – including full names, photos, ID and telephone numbers, personal addresses, religious affiliations, and even marital status. Each person's role and IDF health profile was also mentioned.
The protesters carried signs bearing the writing "stop persecuting religion," and called for the release of those detained. Some of them were taken in for questioning. A few days previously, the police arrested two ultra-Orthodox men in Bnei Brak and one more in Modi'in Illit, as part of an investigation of the incitement against ultra-Orthodox soldiers taking place in the Jerusalem District.

An Israeli army spokesperson said that the "wounded civilian" had arrived at the entrance to Neve Daniel "reporting a stabbing." He was later evacuated to Shaare Zedek Medical Center for treatment.
Israeli soldiers were reportedly searching the area for the suspected attacker, according to Ma'an.
Reports said that the nearby Route 60 had been sealed, as Israeli forces stopped and searched vehicles using the major West Bank thoroughfare.

Israeli settlers, on Tuesday, physically assaulted and injured a Palestinian shepherd in Masafer Yatta, a Bedouin area to the south of Hebron, while he was grazing sheep, according to local sources.
Coordinator of the Anti-Settlement Commission in Hebron, Rateb Jabour, told WAFA that Israeli settlers from a nearby illegal settlement physically assaulted 65-year-old Khader Hamad, a local Palestinian shepherd, while he was grazing sheep in the area. Hamad sustained bruises across his body, due to the attack.
Masafer Yatta, a collection of almost 19 hamlets, is located in Area C of the West Bank, and is under full Israeli administrative and military control. The area has been subject to repeated Israeli violations by settlers and soldiers targeting their main source of living, livestock.
The area relies heavily on animal husbandry, and has been a frequent target for recurrent Israeli assaults, including demolitions of animal barns, homes and residential structures.

Several Palestinians sustained rubber bullet wounds and others choked on teargas on Saturday evening in violent clashes with the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) in Salfit.
Eyewitnesses said the IOF rolled into Salfit and sealed off the city with makeshift checkpoints. The occupation troops were reportedly deployed at the Huda petrol station in the city.
The Israeli soldiers further seized surveillance cameras after an Israeli settler claimed he was shot near Salfit’s eastern entrance.

Israeli forces prepare the illegal invasion of Palestinian houses by settlers
On February 3rd, 2016, Israeli occupation forces violently opened the door of houses in the vicinity of the Ibrahimi Mosque by cutting the door locks with a disk grinder, and then entered these houses. The houses are located in al-Sahla Street near the Ibrahimi mosque, settlers illegally invaded and occupied them two weeks ago, but were then evicted by the police and army the next morning. After the Israeli army removed the door-locks of the two houses, Israeli construction workers took the external an internal dimensions of both Palestinian properties as if they are already owned by Israeli settlers. The settlers were protected during their illegal activities by big groups of soldiers. Palestinian residents who walked trough the checkpoint in front of these houses were body-checked and harassed by the soldiers. The video below illustrates how inhumane and degrading these body-searches and ID-checks are, with soldiers ordering Palestinians to take off clothing regardless of weather and treating them without even a slight bit of dignity. |

An Israeli group known as Saving Jewish Jerusalem called for the immediate establishment of a “security fence” in occupied Jerusalem in order to separate it from its eastern part.
The group was founded by the former cabinet minister Haim Ramon and a number of Knesset members and former army leaders, Maariv Hebrew newspaper revealed.
“Saving Jewish Jerusalem's platform, which will also be presented to the public, calls for handing control of 28 Palestinian villages in East Jerusalem to the Palestinian Authority (PA).
The villages in question had been an integral part of the West Bank until Israel annexed them in 1967.”
By removing some 200,000 Palestinians from the municipal boundaries of Jerusalem, the city’s Jews will constitute more than 80% of its residents, and the percentage of Palestinians will drop to less than 20%, from the nearly 40% today, according to the newspaper.
Not only that, the group stresses, revoking the Palestinians’ Israeli residency permits will ease the economic burden these villages impose on the Israeli taxpayer, some 2-3 billion Israeli shekels ($500-$750 million) in social and medical care.
Members of the movement argue that the Palestinian villages are massively detrimental to the prosperity of the Israeli capital in terms of security, demographic balance, standard of living and economic well-being.

Israeli settlers stormed the courtyards of Al-Aqsa Mosque on Thursday morning, from Mughrabi Gate, guarded by special occupation forces.
Jerusalemite sources said, according to Al Ray Palestinian Media Agency, that the settlers carried out provocative tours inside the courtyards of the holy site, amid the presence of Palestinian worshipers.
Extremist settlers and politicians have repeatedly violated the sanctity of Al-Aqsa Mosque on an almost daily basis, and always under the protection of armed occupation forces, which often attack Palestinian worshipers who try to protect their place of worship.
Jewish Israeli settlers, on Wednesday, resumed provocative tours inside al-Aqsa Mosque compound in Jerusalem, provoking tension with Palestinian worshipers, who chanted religious slogans to protest their entry.
For Muslims, Al-Aqsa represents the world's third holiest site. Jews, for their part, refer to the area as the "Temple Mount", claiming it was the site of two Jewish temples in ancient times.
In 2003, the Israeli government unilaterally decided -- despite the objections of the Islamic Endowments Department -- to allow non-Muslim visitors into the complex.
Since then, under increasingly right-wing Israeli governments, extremist Jewish settlers have been allowed into the site in ever greater numbers -- usually protected by Israeli security forces -- while Palestinian access to the site has become increasingly restricted.
Christians outside of the Levant remain divided on the issue, as biblical end times prophecy states: "I did not see a temple in the city, because the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple." ~Revelation 21:22
However, settler attacks on Christian holy sites have been progressive, in recent years, and are now on the increase, as well.

A horde of Jewish settlers on Tuesday morning desecrated the Aqsa Mosque's courtyards under tight police protection.
According to eyewitnesses, about 117 settlers entered the Mosque through al-Maghariba Gate and toured its courtyard under the guard of special police forces.
The eyewitnesses affirmed that some settlers tried to perform Talmudic rituals at the Mosque, but they refrained from doing so after Muslim worshipers intervened and interrupted them by loudly chanting religious slogans.
Meanwhile, the Israeli police persisted in banning certain Muslim women labelled as blacklisted from entering the Mosque. The Israeli measure force these women to stage sit-ins every day at the Mosque's gates.
In a related incident, Israeli policemen at al-Majles Gate of the Mosque physically assaulted today a number of Muslim women, who are not allowed by the police to enter the Islamic holy place, according to eyewitnesses.

A group of Israeli extremist settlers brutally attacked Tuesday morning a Palestinian young man while passing near Kiryat Arba settlement, illegally built east of al-Khalil.
The 21-year-old Mohamed Hadad was severely beaten and brutally attacked by a number of settlers for unknown reasons.
Also in al-Khalil, Israeli forces arrested two brothers while passing near the Ibrahimi Mosque. A third young man was later arrested in the city, while a number of make-shift checkpoints were erected at the entrances to the neighboring towns and villages.
Several Palestinian vehicles were stopped and searched at the checkpoints. While relations between Palestinian residents and Israeli settlers in the occupied West Bank are normally tense, the situation has been significantly deteriorating since settlers set fire to a home belonging to the Dawabsheh family in Nablus on July 31, 2015.
An 18-month-old toddler was burned alive during the attack, while his mother and father succumbed to their burn wounds later on while being treated at separate hospitals. The family's four-year-old son is the only remaining survivor of the attack.

The Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) arrested at dawn Monday 16 Palestinians during a large-scale raid campaign across the West Bank and occupied Jerusalem.
The Israeli TV Channel 7 quoted an IOF report as saying that 16 “wanted” Palestinians were arrested at dawn today for allegedly carrying out anti-occupation attacks. In Nablus, three youths were arrested after Israeli forces stormed a number of towns and villages.
Two ex-prisoners were among the reported detainees, the PIC reporter pointed out. A number of local homes including ex-prisoners’ homes were violently stormed and searched during the raid.
Three other arrests were carried out in Tulkarem, while at least one young man was detained in Jenin. Three more arrests were reported in al-Khalil while another young man was detained in Beit Fujar town near Bethlehem.
Meanwhile, a group of settlers brutally attacked Palestinian-owned homes in the Old City in al-Khalil under the protection of Israeli forces, which led to the outbreak of violent clashes with locals. Israeli forces also stopped the construction of a Palestinian house in Beit Ummar north of the city and confiscated the building materials.
On the other hand, PA Preventive Security Service summoned the ex-detainee Suleiman Qawasmi, who spent more than ten years in Israeli jails, and the ex-detainee and political analyst Hisham Sharabati, who spent around twenty years behind Israeli bars, for investigation.

A horde of Israeli extremist settlers, escorted by Israeli policemen, stormed on early Sunday morning Muslims’ the holy al-Aqsa Mosque via the Maghareba Gate.
A PIC news reporter quoted local sources as stating that the occupation police provided the Israeli fanatics with a tight security shield all the way through the break-in.
Observers said the assault amounts to a barefaced attempt to stir up the rage of the peaceful Muslim worshipers and sit-inners who have been maintaining vigil at the Mosque.
Tension has been running high in Occupied Jerusalem due to the striking surge in Israeli break-ins and sacrilegious assaults on Muslims’ the holy al-Aqsa Mosque—the third holiest site in Islam.

Israeli settlers Thursday morning spray-painted anti-Arab racist slogans on walls of a hotel in Tiberias city in 1948 Occupied Palestine.
Israeli police revealed, in a statement, that unknown persons wrote slogans like “Death to Arabs” in Hebrew language on the walls of the hotel and said that the police opened investigation into the incident.
Over the past few weeks, extremist Jewish settlers practiced similar acts at two churches to the west of Occupied Jerusalem. They spray-painted slogans calling for death to Christians and expelling them out of the country.
