A group of Israeli settlers attacked Palestinian shepherds near Khirbat al-Hamma in the northern Jordan Valley, and prevented them from herding their sheep in their own lands on Sunday, according to Motaz Bsharat who is charge of the affairs of the northern Jordan Valley in Tubas city.
The Palestinian activist said in a statement that the Israeli settlers' attacks in the Jordan Valley escalated in the recent days including chasing shepherds and assaulting them, which led to killing and injuring many of their livestock.
Bsharat pointed out that Israeli settlers threaten the Palestinians in the region and tell they must leave, claiming that these lands are "Israeli lands". He added that such attacks occur under the very eyes of the Israeli forces who always take the settlers' side.
Many international and humanitarian organizations believe that targeting the Palestinian families in the Jordan Valley either by demolitions, evictions or other measures comes within an Israeli systematic policy that aims to pressure citizens to evacuate the region since it is considered a vital and strategic region on the military and agricultural levels.

Two Israeli ministers revealed on Friday a plan to build a new illegal settlement at the expense of Palestinian lands in West Bank with the aim of hosting Israeli settlers evacuated recently from Amona outpost.
Israeli Justice Minister Ayelet Shaked affirmed her government’s commitment to build a new settlement for Amona’s settlers.
"We are committed to our pledge," she said.
For his part, Israeli Education Minister Naftali Bennett revealed that Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has approved the establishment of the new settlement.
"I’m totally sure that Netanyahu will abide by his promise," Bennett said.
The two ministers’ statement came just two days after U.S. President Donald Trump had asked Netanyahu to restrain settlement construction during his visit to Washington.
In early February, Israeli forces began an operation to evacuate settlers from Amona settlement illegally built in West Bank after Israel's Supreme Court had set Feb. 8 as the final date for it to be evacuated.
The court ruled in 2014 that Amona was built on private Palestinian land and must be dismantled.

Israel’s attorney general Avichai Mandelblit has agreed to give the pro-settler Elad group a foothold at the archaeological park next to the Western Wall of the Aqsa Mosque in the Old City of Occupied Jerusalem.
Mandelblit took this decision during a meeting he held last week with government officials, according to informed sources.
The sources said Mandelblit affirmed he would offer Elad a foothold at the site, but that it would not manage the park exclusively.
The government-affiliated Jewish Quarter Development Company received control over the park two years ago. This company then signed a deal with Elad, the settler group that runs the so-called City of David park and promotes Jewish settlement in the Palestinian neighborhood of Silwan, to be responsible for the archaeological park.
The previous attorney general, Yehuda Weinstein, revoked the deal, saying that a private organization should not manage a place located in an area that has political and security sensitivities.
