Dozens of extremist Jewish settlers escorted by police forces desecrated the Aqsa Mosque on Thursday morning.
According to the Islamic Awqaf Authority in Occupied Jerusalem, at least 58 settlers entered the Mosque through al-Maghariba Gate and toured its courtyards under police guard.
The Aqsa Mosque is exposed to daily desecration by Jewish settlers and police forces in the morning and the afternoon except on Fridays and Saturdays.
The Israeli police close al-Maghariba Gate, which is used by Jews to enter the Mosque, at 10:30 am after the settlers complete their morning tours at the holy site. Later in the afternoon, the same gate is reopened for evening tours by settlers.
During the presence of settlers inside the Mosque compound, entry restrictions are imposed on Muslim worshipers at the entrances leading to the Mosque and their IDs are seized until they leave the holy place.
The Israeli police also give itself the right to ban entry of any Muslim worshiper to the holy site for different periods, although they have no jurisdiction over the Islamic shrine, which is under Jordan’s custodianship.

The Israeli Magistrate Court in Jerusalem ordered on Wednesday the eviction of two Palestinian families from their homes in Batn al-Hawa area of Silwan, a neighborhood of occupied East Jerusalem, for the benefit of Israeli settlers, according to Wadi Hilweh Information Center.
It said the court gave the families until Mid-August to vacate the building, which consists of a ground storage and two upper floors, under the pretext the house was bought by the Ateret Cohanim settler group.
The Magistrate Court issued the eviction decision after rejecting a petition submitted by the Showaiki and 'Odeh families to refute claims by the Ateret Cohanim settler group of ownership of the property and to prove their ownership of the house and land.
The settlement organization, which in 2001 claimed the right to administer Jewish property, claimed that it had owned the land before 1948 and began in September 2015 to hand over letters to residents of the neighborhood confirming its ownership of the land and buildings.
