A Palestinian youth was shot and injured, Saturday, by live Israeli settler fire to the south of Bethlehem, while other settlers attacked passing Palestinian vehicles with rocks, to the west, according to local and security sources.
WAFA correspondence reports that an Israeli settler opened fire at 25-year-old Mohmmed Asa’ad while he was in his land, near the village of Wadi Rahal, injuring him in the leg. The settler, in addition to two others, previously (and illegally) took over an area of Asa’ad’s land and proceeded to set up tents there.
Meanwhile, a number of settlers from the illegal Israeli settlement of Beitar Ilit, which is a part of the Gush Etzion settlement bloc, hurled stones at Palestinian vehicles passing on the road linking the villages of Hussan and Nahlin to the west of Bethlehem, causing financial damage to several cars.
WAFA notes that settlers have recently escalated attacks against Palestinians through numerous attempts to take over Palestinian-owned land; including the destruction of crops, the pumping of waste water into agricultural land, and other measures aiming to make it difficult for Palestinians to live there, thus forcing them out of their land for the benefit of settlements expansion.

The Palestinian Supreme Muslim Council warned of the possibility of the eruption of a religious war in Middle East as well as all over the world.
The council said, in a statement on Thursday, that the Jewish settlers have been assaulting the Palestinian holy places by various methods. The latest was flying two small drones above the Aqsa Mosque.
The council added the Israeli occupation authorities have been providing protection for Jewish settlers who continuously practice violence against the holy Mosque and the Palestinian people.
The council blamed the Israeli occupation for its provocative practices to the feelings of millions of Muslims around the world.
In the same context, the council condemned publishing of offensive cartoons to Prophet Mohammad (Peace Be upon Him) by foreign media, saying such actions heighten tensions all over the world and incite hatred.
The Supreme Council demanded criminalizing and holding accountable those who offend the Prophet Mohammad (PBUH).
Referring to the killing of two Palestinians, Sami al-Jaar and Sami al-Zayadneh, at the hands of Israeli security forces, the statement condemned the killing of innocent people.
The Council also warned of the Israeli violent policy against the Jerusalemite people including demolition of houses and imposition of expensive fines, calling on Muslims to support steadfastness of the Jerusalemites.
The council also praised the decision of the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court to open a preliminary investigation into the crimes of the Israeli occupation against Palestinians.

Al-Aqsa Mosque guards have managed Wednesday morning to foil Israeli settlers’ attempt to storm the Dome of the Rock after breaking into al-Aqsa Mosque via Magaribeh gate under heavy police protection.
The PIC reporter quoted eyewitnesses as confirming that a group of settlers tried to perform Talmudic rituals at the Dome of the Rock, however the Mosque’s guards prevented them from reaching the area.
Israeli settlers’ break-ins are carried out on daily basis as a prelude to implementing a plan to divide al-Aqsa Mosque similarly to what happened in the Ibrahimi mosque.

A Zionist organization has sent a Palestinian activist from the East Jerusalem town of al-Isawiya a letter threatening to kill him if he doesn’t leave the area.
Hani Isawi, 63, said during a visit to Ma'an office in Bethlehem that he received a written letter in English from a purported Zionist organization calling itself Pulsa Di Noura.
The letter, he said, asked him either to leave al-Isawiya or die.
Isawi is a member of a local committee for defending the town's lands.
"Neither such a letter, nor the Israeli occupation's practices, could push us to even think of leaving or cede a span of the hand of our land," Isawi told Ma'an.
The citizens of al-Isawiya, he added, have been suffering seriously as a result of the tough practices and restrictions imposed by the Israeli municipality of Jerusalem on the one hand, and the assaults and plots by the extremist Zionist groups on the other hand. Nevertheless, the residents are adamant to remain firm on their lands despite all restrictions and plots, he said.
Isawi added that Israeli police had set up an almost permanent checkpoint at the western entrance to the town since the latest military offensive on the Gaza Strip. Police officers at this checkpoint search passersby almost every day using police dogs.
The envelope in which the letter was sent to Isawi included seeds of citrus fruits.
About two weeks ago, the mayor of Hebron and a school principal in the city received similar letters.

A Palestinian man from the West Bank
city of Tulkarem was shot, then taken into custody by Israeli police in
Tel Aviv Wednesday after stabbing several people on a bus. Israeli
authorities say they are considering this a 'terror' attack.

The 23-year old man apparently entered Israel illegally, despite the massive Israeli Annexation Wall that virtually surrounds Tulkarem and nearby towns. He has not yet been identified.
The attack took place on the #40 bus on Menachem Begin Road in Tel Aviv. The assailant fled from the bus on foot but was shot in the leg by police, who then arrested him and brought him to prison.
Nine Israelis were wounded were wounded - 3 moderately wounded, and 6 lightly wounded, according to Israeli media. The driver was one of those who was stabbed in the attack. Israeli media sources are also reporting that five additional passengers were suffering from 'shock'.
A representative of Hamas issued a statement in support of the attack in Tel Aviv, although the motive of the attacker remains unclear.
In the past four months, 7 Israelis have been killed by Palestinians, six of those killed were civilians and one was a soldier, in what Israel has called an 'uptick' in violence against Israelis. During the same time period, 32 Palestinians have been killed by Israelis, one of whom was known to be an armed resistance fighter. The rest were civilians, including a Minister in the Palestinian Authority and a 13-year old child.
Three Palestinians were killed in the past week alone - one was killed while attending the funeral of the other, who had been killed during a house raid in the Negev. The third was killed near Bethlehem. None of them were armed. Also, in the past 10 days, five Palestinians including four babies have died of the cold in Gaza, where tens of thousands remain homeless following Israel's assault last summer that left over 2100 people dead, including 500 children.

Dozens of Jewish settlers on Tuesday morning desecrated the Aqsa Mosque's courtyards under police protection.
A group of those settlers tried to enter the plateau of the Dome of the Rock in an attempt to provoke a reaction from some Muslim worshipers standing there, which prompted the latter to chant religious slogans to fend them off, the Islamic Awqaf Authority in Jerusalem reported.
The Awqaf Authority added that 55 other settlers working for the Israeli foreign affairs ministry and the Shin Bet also defiled the Mosque's courtyards in two groups.
It noted that the Israeli police confiscated the ID cards of Palestinian women at the Mosque's gates before allowing them in, affirming that they arrested one woman after she left the holy place through al-Hetta Gate.

Palestinian worshipers on Monday morning fended off an attempt by fanatic Jewish settlers to ascend to the plateau of the Dome of the Rock at the Aqsa Mosque.
Consequently, a brief scuffle happened between the Palestinian worshipers there on the one side and the settlers and policemen escorting them on the other side, especially after a settler tried to attack a Palestinian woman, one of the Mosque's guards reported.
He added the policemen threatened to arrest the Palestinian worshipers after they stood up for the settlers and prevented them from entering the plateau of the Dome of the Rock.
Meanwhile, the Israeli police continued to impose entry restrictions on Muslims at the gates of the Aqsa Mosque and allow in some of them after confiscating their ID cards.

Several Palestinians were injured, Saturday, while dozens of others suffocated from tear gas inhalation as Israeli forces dispersed a peaceful march to the north of Surif town, north of Hebron, according to local activists and WAFA correspondence.
Israeli forces attacked and attempted to crush a peaceful march that was organized by the Popular Committee Against the Wall and Settlements in the southern West Bank, brutally assaulting participants with the butts of their rifles, spraying them with pepper spray, and firing tear gas canisters and stun grenades at them.
Several Palestinians were injured, while dozens others suffocated as a result of excessive tear gas inhalation.
The march was organized in protest of the ongoing closure of the road linking Surif with al-Jab‘a village to the southwest of Bethlehem.
Coordinator of the Popular Committee against the Wall and Settlement in Hebron, Rateb al-Jabour, said that the march was intended to protest the ongoing closure and siege imposed on Palestinian communities in these areas, especially in communities located adjacent to illegal settlements, as well as the seizure of 2,000 dunums of land belonging to Surif for the benefit of settlement expansion.
Several activists were briefly detained by soldiers, including Ahmad al-Hih and Loai Ghnaimat.
Marchers demanded the removal of the metal gate that has been installed for the last fourteen years by Israeli forces between Surif and al-Jab‘a.
In related news, Israeli settlers uprooted olive trees from Palestinian-owned land located between the Ramallah villages of al- Mughayyir and Turmus-Ayya, on Saturday.
Local sources told WAFA that settlers uprooted around 20 fruitful olive trees belonging to Rakid al-Nasaan.
OCHA Protection of Civilians report covering the period between 16– 22 December 2014, reported an average of six incidents of Israeli attacks against Palestinians, resulting in Palestinian casualties or damage to property since the beginning of 2014.
“In 2013, the report of the United Nations International Fact-Finding Mission on Settlements highlighted the failure of the Israeli authorities to enforce the law by investigating such incidents and taking measures against their perpetrators. The Fact-Finding Mission came to the 'clear conclusion that there is institutionalized discrimination against the Palestinian people when it comes to addressing violence,” stated al-Haq, an independent Palestinian non-governmental human rights organization.
B'Tselem, the Israeli Information Center for Human Rights in the Occupied Territories, stressed that “As the occupying force, Israel must protect the Palestinians in the West Bank. However, the Israeli authorities neglect to fulfill this responsibility and do not do enough to prevent Israeli civilians from attacking Palestinians, their property and their lands. The undeclared policy of the Israeli authorities in response to these attacks is lenient and conciliatory. Perpetrators are rarely tried, and many cases are not investigated at all or are closed with no operative conclusions.”
