At 18:30 PM on the 29th of June 2015, masked settlers from the nearby illegal settlement of Beit Hadassah attacked Palestinian houses and souq (market) with a water hose and stones.
Shadi Sider, a Palestinian man, had to be hospitalized due to a stone thrown by a settler that hit him in the knee. The settlers attacked the Sider family home, the water went inside the living room, completely soaking the interior including a computer. During the attack, an Israeli settler arrived with an assault rifle. Israeli soldiers were present throughout the entire incident, they stood and watched but never intervened to stop the settler violence. They were standing above the Palestinian market, which they occupy. |
Six children, all under the age of five years old, were present in the family home at the time of the attack; stones were also thrown at the property. This is not the first time that the family home has been attacked by settlers. Just last Saturday, the settlers sprayed water at the same home and threw stones. The Sider family home overlooks the settler basketball court and illegal settlement of Beit Hadassah.
Twenty Israeli soldiers were present in the souq after the incident today. They came into the Sider home, looked around, and left without speaking to Shadi Sider’s wife, whose home was just attacked by settlers. Time and time again settlers have attacked the Sider family home yet none of them are ever reprimanded for doing so.

Israeli forces carried out multiple detention raids across the occupied West Bank, overnight Monday, after three Israeli settlers were injured in a shooting south of Nablus and an explosive device was allegedly hurled at a settler vehicle near Ramallah.
Dozens of settlers from the illegal settlement of Beit Eil were also reported to have attacked Palestinian vehicles on the road between Ramallah and Nablus.
The violent reprisals come as the president of the Shomron regional council, which groups together illegal Israeli settlements in the northern West Bank, said in a statement that "we must not let terrorism spread."
"I call on the government to authorize the army to act without pity against these savages who take civilians for targets," he said.
The Israeli army reported that three Israeli settlers were injured in Monday's shooting while driving near the West Bank village of al-Mughayir.
Israeli media said four settlers were injured in the attack.
Israeli forces in the early hours of Tuesday stormed al-Mughayir and made multiple detention raids.
Witnesses said large numbers of Israeli soldiers ransacked Palestinian homes, "detaining young men haphazardly."
They added that the soldiers deployed on every street corner in the village after setting up military checkpoints at its entrances.
Worshipers who tried to go to mosques for dawn prayer were denied access and forced to return to their homes, they said.
Meanwhile, fierce clashes broke out between young Palestinians and Israeli soldiers late Monday after they stormed the village of Kafr Malik east of Ramallah.
Locals told Ma’an News Agency that the soldiers broke into shops and gas stations where they seized surveillance cameras.
Palestinian youth confronted the soldiers with stones and empty bottles as they deployed through the villages streets.
Israeli forces were also reported to have stormed the villages of Deir Jarir, Ibwein and Ajjul north of Ramallah and seized surveillance cameras from shops.
Witnesses said a checkpoint was set up at the entrance to the village of Atara north of Ramallah.
Separately, dozens of Israeli settlers from the illegal Beit El settlement near Ramallah threw stones at Palestinian vehicles travelling between Ramallah and Nablus.
Witnesses said that several vehicles were hit and many drivers chose to take other roads to avoid the section close to the illegal settlement.
Clashes later broke out when Palestinians from al-Jalazoun threw stones and fireworks at the settlers and Israeli soldiers rushed in, firing tear gas canisters, stun grenades and rubber-coated steel bullets.
Monday's shooting came following a string of "lone-wolf" attacks by Palestinians on Israeli military and civilians.
Earlier on Monday a Palestinian woman was arrested after she stabbed an Israeli soldier at the 300 checkpoint in Bethlehem, and on June 21 another Palestinian was shot after stabbing an Israeli border policeman in occupied East Jerusalem.
An average of two Israeli civilians per week have sustained injuries by Palestinians so far in 2015, with one Israeli killed, according to the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs.
In the same time period, however, an average of 39 Palestinians have been injured by Israeli forces per week and 13 killed, including two since the beginning of this month.
The number does not include incidents of injury by Israeli settlers on Palestinians in the West Bank.

A number of Israeli settlers attacked, late at night, a number of Palestinian cars driving near the Bet El illegal settlement, east of the central West Bank city of Ramallah, causing damage but no injuries.
Eyewitnesses said the settlers hurled stones at Palestinian cars, driving on the Ramallah-Nablus road.
They added that Israeli soldiers arrived at the scene, and clashed with scores of Palestinian youths, near the al-Jalazoun refugee camp, before the army fired rounds of live ammunition, rubber-coated metal bullets and gas bombs.
On Monday, soldiers detained a mentally challenged Palestinian at the al-Jalama roadblock, northeast of the northern West Bank city of Jenin.
Local sources said the Palestinian, from the Sa’adi family, was using fireworks near the roadblock, and that the soldiers interrogated him for several hours, before releasing him.

Israeli medical sources have reported
that four settlers have been injured, one seriously, late on Monday, in a
shooting attack carried out at the Shvut Rachel Junction, south of
Nablus, in the northern part of the occupied West Bank.
The
sources said two of the wounded, one who suffered a serious injury and
another in a moderate condition, were moved to the Shaare Zedek Medical
Center.
The two other wounded persons, who suffered moderate injuries, were moved to the Hadassah Ein Karem Medical Center, in Jerusalem.
Israeli Ynet News said the four wounded Israelis are in their twenties, and that they were shot in their upper and lower bodies.
Israeli daily Haaretz said the seriously wounded man, 27 years of age, is currently in the Intensive Care Unit, after doctors performed a surgery overnight; he suffered a gunshot injury to his torso.
Following the shooting, Israeli soldiers installed roadblocks, before hundreds of soldiers and including undercover units, initiated a large search campaign in the area.
The Ynet said the attack was carried out by Palestinian fighters, who “either conducted a drive-by shooting, or ambushed the setters, before fleeing the scene with the help on an escape car.”
Clashes also took place between Israeli soldiers and Palestinian youths in different areas of the Nablus district.
On Monday morning, a female Israeli soldier was injured after being stabbed in the neck, at the main crossing, near the Rachel Tomb, north of Bethlehem.
The army said it arrested a young Palestinian woman, identified as Maisoon Mousa from Bethlehem, and “located two knives” she reportedly carried in her bag.
According to the army, Mousa admitted to carrying out the attack, and that she went to the crossing “intending to kill a soldier.” It also said initial investigations indicate she acted on her own.
Terror attack in West Bank: Four Israelis wounded in shooting
One seriously wounded, three suffer moderate wounds after coming under fire at the Shvut Rachel Junction in the Binyamin region; this is 6th terror attack in 10 days of Ramadan.
One Israeli was seriously wounded and three others suffered moderate wounds on Monday night when they came under gunfire at the Shvut Rachel junction near Shilo in the West Bank.
Magen David Adom paramedics who arrived at the scene evacuated two of the wounded - one serious and one moderate to the Shaare Zedek Medical Center in Jeruselm, and two others moderately wounded to the Hadassah Medical Center in Jerusalem's Ein Karem. All four, in their 20s, are suffering from bullet wounds to both upper and lower bodies.
The seriously wounded man was operated on overnight at Shaare Zedek Medical Center. He was hospitalized in intensive care.
The car was reportedly travelling north bound when the perpatrators opened fire.
The IDF set up roadblocks and checkpoints in the area and large forces from the Judea and Samaria division, including fighters from the elite Special Forces Duvdevan Unit, were searching the area for any leads to the terror cell who committed the attack.
Initial investigation raised two possible lines of inquiry - one of a drive-by shooting, and the other that it was an ambush which included an escape vehicle for the cell members.
This is the fourth attack in four days and the sixth terror attack since the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan ten days ago.
Acting Samaria Regional Council head, Yossi Dagan, said after the attack: "Recently we've been witnessing a concerning increase in serious terror attacks: The stabbing of the soldier this morning at Rachel's Tomb, the shooting on the MDA ambulance on Highway 60 over the weekend, Molotov cocktail being thrown at buses, and the cold-blooded murder of Danny Gonen near Dolev.
We must stop this phenomenon before things deteriorate further. We will not allow terrorists to harm our citizens and we demand the Israeli government to allow the IDF to act without mercy against those savages who are turning civilians into targets. The term 'trickle' with regards to terrorism is a lie. We are not willing to get used to this situation in Judea and Samaria as it happens and has been happening for years with the rocket fire in the south."
Meanwhile, shortly after the attack, stones were thrown at an Israeli vehicle at the Hizma checkpoint on Highway 60. No one was hurt and security forces were searching the area for perpetrators.
On Monday morning, a Palestinian woman attacked a female IDF soldier, stabbing her in the neck at the Rachel checkpoint near Rachel's Tomb in Bethlehem.
The attacker, 20-year-old Misoun Mussa from Bethlehem, was not known to security forces and does not have a criminal record.
Mussa was found to have two other knives on her person. During questioning by the Shin Bet, she said she arrived at the crossing to kill a soldier. The initial assessment was that she acted alone. West Bank shooting victim's 'life in danger'

Israeli settlers assaulted a Palestinian man Saturday night in the Beit Hanina neighborhood of occupied East Jerusalem, his family says.
Ashraf al-Alami told Ma'an News Agency that three Israeli settlers assaulted his brother Ibrahim, 31, on Saturday evening when he stopped his car as he was heading to work in West Jerusalem.
The settlers reportedly stopped his brother's car and "after making sure he was an Arab," Ashraf said, they verbally abused him, physically assaulted him, and attempted to strangle him before fleeing the scene. Ibrahim suffered from cuts and bruises in the face, chest, and neck.
An Israeli police spokesperson did not immediately respond for comment.
Residents of Beit Hanina and other occupied East Jerusalem neighborhoods have faced an ongoing trend of increasing presence of Israeli settlers in Palestinian neighborhoods.
Takeover of Palestinian homes by Israeli settlers in the neighborhoods is part of an ongoing government policy aimed to maintain a Jewish majority in Jerusalem, by way of pushing Palestinians out of occupied East Jerusalem through home demolition, eviction, and other policies.
Saturday's assault came after two Palestinians were displaced when their home was demolished in Beit Hanina last week for lack of Israeli-issued building permits. Such permits are difficult for Palestinian residents to obtain.
The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs estimates that an average of four attacks by settlers on Palestinians have been carried out per week since the start of 2015.

Israeli war minister Moshe Ya’alon has approved recently a plan to confiscate Beit al-Baraka church in al-Khalil as a prelude to establish “a strategic settlement” in the area, Palestinian official reports revealed Saturday.
Israeli settlers claimed that they had earlier brought the church with the aim of establishing a settlement located between Gush Etzion bloc and al-Khalil city, the reports added.
Israel Land Fund intends to establish a hotel in the area, the reports said.
The church, located in an area of 40 dunums near Arroub refugee camp in al-Khalil, was purchased by an American association in favor of the settlers.
30 Israeli soldiers are currently deployed in the church as a prelude for the establishment of the settlement.

Israeli extremist settler groups sprayed racist slogans on a mosque in occupied Jerusalem on Friday.
The slogans “Death to Arabs” and “Price Tag” were found outside Shouman mosque in Beit Hanina to the north of the city, local sources said.
Numerous arson and graffiti attacks were carried out in the past against Christian and Islamic holy sites in the West Bank and occupied Jerusalem under the “price tag” slogan.
The term “price tag” is used to describe vandalism or attacks carried out by Jewish fanatic settlers against Palestinians and their property.
The Israeli police usually say that they will carry out investigations when these attacks take place. To date, however, not a single settler has ever been prosecuted for such serious crimes.

Israeli settlers on Wednesday showed strong opposition against Palestinians opening their stores in Al-Shuhada street near the Ibrahimi mosque in Hebron. According to Ma’ariv Israeli newspaper, leaders of the settlers announced a wide campaign to prevent these stores from opening.
Settlers claim the opening will threaten their security and lives, adding that the street is “clean” of Palestinians.
The newspaper added that there were still initiatives to re-open the stores due to pressures on Israeli occupation authorities.
Shuhada Street was closed for Palestinians then reopened under a peace agreement in 1997.
In 1999 under the Hebron Accords, the city was officially divided in two by barricades and checkpoints, and the road was closed again.
