It is noteworthy that 60% of the al-Alami and Eshteiyeh ownership was previously seized by Israeli settlers as part of Israel’s settlement expansion plan.
The fate of Jerusalem has been a focal point of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict for decades, with numerous tensions arising over Israeli threats regarding the status of non-Jewish religious sites in the city, and the "Judaization" of East Jerusalem through settlement construction and mass demolitions of Palestinian homes.

Hordes of Jewish settlers on Sunday morning desecrated anew the Aqsa Mosque’s courtyards under heavy police protection.
According to local sources, scores of settlers entered the Mosque through al-Maghariba Gate in groups and toured its courtyards and plateaus as they were receiving information about the alleged temple mounts from rabbis.
The Israeli occupation police intensified their presence at the Islamic holy site during the presence of settlers.
The Aqsa Mosque is exposed to daily desecration by Jewish settlers in the morning and the afternoon except on Fridays and Saturdays.
The Israeli police close al-Maghariba Gate, which is used by Jews to enter the Mosque, at 10:30 am after the settlers complete their morning tours at the holy site. Later in the afternoon, the same gate is reopened for evening tours by settlers.
During the presence of settlers inside the Mosque compound, entry restrictions are imposed on Muslim worshipers at the entrances leading to the Mosque and their IDs are seized until they leave the holy place.

Israeli forces sealed off a road in southern Nablus City, in the northern occupied West Bank, on Wednesday.
Activist Youssef Deiriyeh told Ma’an News Agency that Israeli forces completely sealed off the Wadi al-Radem road, with dirt mounds, for the fifth time in a row.
Deiriyeh pointed out that the closure comes as a result to complaints of several Israeli settlers, living in the Yanoun area.
The Wadi al-Radem road serves several Palestinian agricultural roads, and leads to wide spaces that would soon be used for solar panels and substitute energy.
Palestinian communities are routinely subjected to arbitrary road closures by Israeli military forces for purported “security reasons,” an act which rights groups have denounced as amounting to collective punishment.

Illegal Israeli colonialist settlers wrote, Tuesday, racist graffiti on the outer walls of Bab ar-Rahma Mosque, adjacent to the eastern wall of the Al-Aqsa Mosque, in occupied East Jerusalem.
The incident took place just a few days after dozens of Palestinians managed to reopen the ar-Rahma Mosque for the first time since Israel closed it in the year 2003.
The Palestinians in the city called for mass gatherings around Bab ar-Rahma, outside the mosque, to hold prayers and affirm their right to the holy site.
The Israeli army then initiated an extensive campaign in which the soldiers stormed and searched many homes in the occupied city, and abducted dozens around 60 Palestinians.
Among the abducted Palestinians are several sheikhs and Imams, including two high-level officials with the mosque.
In related news, the Israeli police handed a Palestinian teacher, identified as Hanadi Halawani, and order preventing her from entering Al-Aqsa compound for six months.
Halawani was taken prisoner, Wednesday, after the soldiers stormed her home in Jerusalem, and took her to an interrogated facility, before releasing her later.
It is worth mentioning that the soldiers abducted, Tuesday, a Sheikh of the Al-Aqsa Mosque, identified as Ra’ed Da’na, near his home in Jerusalem, in addition to 21 other Palestinians across the occupied West Bank.

The Israeli Minister of Agriculture, Uri Ariel, stormed the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound in occupied East Jerusalem under armed security by Israeli forces, on Tuesday.
Head of the public relations office at the Islamic Endowment Department, Firas al-Dibs, said that Israeli Minister Ariel was heading a group of Israeli settlers into the Al-Aqsa compound via the Moroccans Gate, which has been under Israeli control since the occupation of Jerusalem City. Al-Dibs pointed out that Ariel took footage of the al-Rahma Gate (Gate of Mercy) prayer area that was opened recently. Prayer area of the al-Rahma Gate was closed Monday evening upon order by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and reopened on Tuesday Morning. Israeli police forces were deployed around al-Rahma prayer area since early morning hours and took footage of Palestinian guards who opened the area. The number of Israeli MK’s, who storm the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound, has increased the past few months after Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, decided to lift a ban that would previously not allow Israeli Knesset members to visit the compound every three months, after incursions were banned since October 2015. Netanyahu allowed members of the Knesset, mostly right-wing extremists, who support the demolition of the Islamic site in order to build a Jewish temple instead, to visit the Al-Aqsa compound once every three months. |
After Netanyahu lifted the ban, Palestinian Authority (PA) spokesman, Youssef al-Mahmoud, spoke out about the decision to lift the ban calling it a "serious provocation" and "encouraging harm to one of Islam’s holiest sites."
However, in the past two months, MKs such as Shuli Mualem, Yehuda Glick, and Uri Ariel have repeatedly entered the compound, violating the “every three months entry.”
The Al-Aqsa Mosque compound, which sits just above the Western Wall plaza, houses both the Dome of the Rock and Al-Aqsa mosque. The third holiest site in Islam, it is also venerated as Judaism's most holy place, as it sits where Jews believe the First and Second Temples once stood.
While Jewish visitation is permitted to the compound, non-Muslim worship at Al-Aqsa is prohibited according to an agreement signed between Israel and the Jordanian government after Israel’s illegal occupation of East Jerusalem in 1967.
