Fissures and cracks have emerged on a highway leading to Jerusalem’s al-Aqsa Mosque—the third holiest site in Islam.
The cracks have been spotted on the borderline between the road and the wall south of al-Rahma Gate. The seven-centimeter crack along with others emerging as a result of internal collapses have become visible all along the southern road. Crowds of Israeli settlers are often caught gathering on the highway during their mass break-ins into the Aqsa Mosque. Israeli police often obstruct works to reconstruct the road and carry out maintenance in the area. |
Heavy water downpours piled up on the highway also lead to the gradual dissolution of soil and concrete as water creeps into the fissures emerging on the stones as time passes by.
Local sources warned of a massive collapse to rock al-Aqsa in case serious measures are not urgently taken to patch up the cracks.

Thousands of Israeli settlers have been caught at the Ibrahimi Mosque, in the southern occupied West Bank province of al-Khalil, after they broke into the site overnight. video video
Director of the Ibrahimi Mosque Hefdhi Abu Esneineh said thousands of settlers have been spotted at the site from nightfall until daybreak on Sunday to mark the so-called Sarah Imeinu holiday. video video
The Muslim worshipers have, meanwhile, been banned from entering the site to perform their daily prayers.
During October, the Israeli occupation authorities prohibited the Muslim call to prayers at the Ibrahimi Mosque for dozens of times and cracked down on the Muslim worshipers as they attempted to hold their religious prayers inside the holy site.
Such measures reportedly make part of Israeli attempts to judaize the Ibrahimi Mosque by intensifying Israelis’ presence and, thus, imposing a new fait accompli at the site, as has been the case with Islamic and Christian holy places across the occupied Palestinian territories, namely Jerusalem’s al-Aqsa Mosque.

Palestinian farmers in Salfit villages and towns have complained that Israeli settlements, especially Ariel settlement, keep polluting their olive groves with wastewater.
Farmers told a reporter for the Palestinian Information Center (PIC) that Ariel, the second largest settlement in the occupied West Bank, was pouring sewage into the valleys of Salfit city and the towns of Hares, Kifl Hares, Bruqin and Kafr ad-Dik as well as the tourist areas of Wad al-Mutawi and Wad al-Fawwar.
The sewage coming from this settlement, in particular, is polluting the soil in those areas, especially through getting mixed with either rainwater or spring water in Wad al-Mutawi.
The settlement of Ariel has been pumping its sewage directly into nearby Palestinian areas for years, creating a dangerous and unhealthy situation for local residents and contaminating groundwater and crops.
