Dozens of extremist Israeli settlers on Sunday morning prevented cargo and tanker trucks from entering the blockaded Gaza Strip after they sealed off access roads leading to Kerem Abu Salem crossing.
Fanatic Israeli settlers have taken to the streets at daybreak and blocked all thoroughfares leading to Kerem Abu Salem crossing, which is used to transport goods and fuel supplies to besieged Gaza.
The settlers intercepted Gaza-bound trucks loaded with much-needed foodstuff, fuel supplies, and reconstruction materials.
Palestinian merchants said hundreds of trucks have lined up on the Palestinian side of the crossing since the early morning hours, trying to reach the blockaded enclave.
Blockaded by Israel -- by air, land and sea -- since 2007, the Gaza Strip has been grappling with a tough blockade, leaving thousands of sick civilians and humanitarian cases stranded in the world’s largest “open air prison.”

A horde of fanatic Israeli settlers attacked at noontime Saturday members of the Palestinian municipality in al-Khalil’s Old City, in the southern occupied West Bank.
Reporting from the city, a PIC news correspondent said a crowd of Israeli settlers came down heavily on municipal workers while they were carrying out sanitation maintenance in al-Kazazeen popular market after rain downpours flooded the area.
Following an altercation between the two groups, the Israelis attacked the workers and violently beat them up, resulting in injuries and bruises.
An Israeli army patrol showed up in the area to protect the Israeli assailants and prevented the municipality staff members from carrying out maintenance works.
Settler violence against Palestinians and their property is routine in the West Bank and is rarely prosecuted by the Israeli occupation authorities.
Settlers' violence includes property and mosque arsons, stone-throwing, uprooting of crops and olive trees, attacks on vulnerable homes, among others.
Between 500,000 and 600,000 Israelis live in Jewish-only settlements across the occupied Palestinian territories in violation of international law.
All settlements across the West Bank are illegal under international law, particularly article 49 of the Fourth Geneva Convention, which establishes that the occupying power shall not deport or forcibly transfer civilian population in territory it occupies.

Israeli soldiers invaded Thursday, Beit Ta’mar Palestinian village, east of the West Bank city of Bethlehem, and started firing live rounds at students, teachers and officials of the Ministry of Education, during a school celebration.
Media sources said the soldiers, and many illegal colonialist settlers, surrounded the area, before the army attacked the children, staffers and families, who were celebrating, singing and performing Dabka, in the Tahadi Basic School in the village. The very presence of the soldiers and the settlers caused fear in many children, who started crying before the soldiers fired many gas bombs and concussion grenades at the school, resulting in injuries, while many children suffered anxiety attacks. |
Palestinian Education Minister Sabri Saidam denounced the serious Israeli violations and attacks against the children.
“The children were just celebrating, there are no words to describe the serious assault,” he said, “the army hurt those children, and replaced their songs with cries, tears and terror.”
The head of the Bethlehem branch of the Minister of Education, Sami Marwa, said education ministry officials, and representatives of the UNESCO in Palestine, were visiting the school, before the soldiers opened fire.
He added that many soldiers and illegal colonialist settlers also gathered near the main gate of al-Khansa’ School for Girls, in Teqoua town east of Bethlehem, while a UNESCO delegation was visiting it.

Dozens of Jewish settlers on Thursday stormed a Palestinian archeological site in al-Khalil, where they performed rituals under military protection.

Over 200 Jewish settlers and one Knesset member on Thursday morning desecrated the Aqsa Mosque’s courtyards under police escort.
Sources from the Islamic Waqf Authority in Occupied Jerusalem said that the Israeli police allowed about 207 settlers to enter the Mosque, tour its courtyards and perform rituals.
124 of those settlers were students of religious institutions and Hebrew universities. Knesset member Shuli Mualem was also among a group of settlers who defiled the Islamic holy site in the morning.
More settlers are expected to desecrate the Mosque in the afternoon after the Israeli police announced its intent to allow another round of tours for Jews after Muslim worshipers finish their noon prayers.
In a related context, Palestinian minister of religious affairs Yousef Ad’eis has warned that the Aqsa Mosque could be exposed to a wave of desecration by Israeli officials and lawmakers.
Ad’eis pointed to the gravity of growing calls by Israeli right-wing politicians to end the Jordanian custodianship over Jerusalem holy sites and the escalation of their break-in at the Aqsa Mosque.
Recently, the Israeli police allowed members of the Knesset to desecrate the Aqsa Mosque once every month instead of once every three months.

The settlement organization known as “Regavim” has filed a lawsuit, in an Israeli court, to demolish the Tahaddi 5 school, in the Beit Ta’mar area, east of Bethlehem.
The head of the office for the Wall and Settlement Resistance Committee in Bethlehem, Hassan Brejiya, said that the lawyer of Saint Yves for defense of land, Emile Mashreqi, told the committee that the settlement institution has filed a racist claim in an Israeli court, against the school, in order to demolish it.
Brejiyya explained, according to the PNN, that the school has been subjected to demolition attempts over and over, and had previously been demolished on the first day of school, for the year 2016-2017.
He pointed out that this institution is responsible for monitoring Palestinian homes in Area C, and is always directing the Israeli Civil Administration to demolish houses and influence the suspension of construction there, as it was behind the administrative demolition in the occupied West Bank, which was stopped recently.
