The Israeli human rights center B'Tselem on Saturday said that the Israeli army in January 2018 deliberately killed five Palestinians, four of whom were children, without justification.
B'Tselem revealed in a report that on 3rd January the Israeli soldiers shot Mus'ab al-Soufi, 16, a resident of Deir Nizam village in Ramallah, in the neck and killed him.
On 11th January, according to the human rights center, the Israeli soldiers shot the 17-year-old Ali Qino directly in the head in Iraq Burin village in Nablus. On the same day, Amir Abu Musaed, 15, was killed in a similar incident during a demonstration near the border fence east of Deir al-Balah city in the central Gaza Strip.
Both Ahmad Salim, 28, and Laith Abu Naim, 16, were killed in Qalqilya and Ramallah, respectively, after being targeted with live bullets to the head for no apparent reason.
Based on B'Tselem's investigation, the Israeli soldiers opened fire at those Palestinians, particularly in the upper parts of their bodies, during peaceful demonstrations and stone-throwing protests, which means that they were not posing any threat to the soldiers' lives.
The report underlined that such practices make open-fire instructions meaningless because the purpose of these instructions is to limit the use of live ammunition for killing. They also reflect Israel's blatant disregard for the lives of Palestinian civilians, it added.

The Israeli Ministerial Committee for Legislation is set to discuss on Sunday a bill to deduct welfare payments by the Palestinian Authority (PA) to the families of jailed, injured and murdered Palestinians from the tax revenues Israel transfers annually to the PA.
The bill proposed by the Israeli war minister Avigdor Lieberman states that the funds to be deducted will be channeled to a future fund with three aims: enforcing punishment of the Palestinians who carry out attacks, establishing counter-terrorism projects and developing infrastructure networks.
Israel's Ministry of Public Security had previously claimed that the PA pays annually 1.2 billion shekels to the families of martyrs and prisoners, thereby encouraging "terrorism".
It also claimed that the PA in 2017 paid over 550 million shekels to released prisoners and families of prisoners and about 687 million shekels to the families of murdered and injured Palestinians—equivalent to 7% of the PA overall budget.
The new bill provides that the Israeli war minister at the end of each year presents an annual report to the cabinet under which the allowances of the families of Palestinian prisoners and martyrs will be deducted from the tax revenues collected by Israel for the PA.

Hamza Yousef No’man Zama’ra 19
Israeli soldiers killed, on Wednesday morning, a young Palestinian man near Karmei Tzur illegal Israeli colony, which was built on Palestinian lands in Hebron, after he reportedly stabbed and lightly injured a guard. The soldiers later conducted invasions of nearby villages and violent searches and injured 29 Palestinians.
The Palestinian District Coordination Office (DCO) has confirmed to the Health Ministry that the slain Palestinian has been identified as Hamza Yousef No’man Zama’ra, 19, from Halhoul town, north of Hebron.
Israeli sources claimed that the Palestinian “very lightly wounded the guard in a stabbing attack in Karmie Tzur.” The wounded Israeli guard was identified as Boris Balbrava, 36, from Karmei Tzur colony.
They said that Zama’ra “arrived by car at the security post leading to the settlement, and attacked a guard directly after exiting the car,” and added that he stabbed a guard in his hand, causing very minor wounds, before another guard shot him dead.
Following the incident, dozens of soldiers arrived at the scene, and initiated an extensive search campaign, reportedly to locate “possible accomplices.”
The soldiers later invaded Hamza’s home, and violently searched it, before interrogating his family and abducting his father. They released the father later, and summoned two of his sons for interrogation in the Etzion military base, north of Hebron.
Following Hamza’s death, dozens of Palestinian protested in Halhoul, before the soldiers attacked them, and fired dozens of live rounds, rubber-coated steel bullets and gas bombs.
Medical sources in Hebron said the soldiers shot at least 29 Palestinians with live rounds and rubber-coated steel bullets and caused many to suffer the severe effects of teargas inhalation, in addition to assaulting three with clubs and batons.
It is worth mentioning that Hamza is a former political prisoner and has two brothers who are imprisoned by Israel.

Khaled Waleed Tayeh, 22
Israeli soldiers killed, on Tuesday at night, a young Palestinian man, and injured 110, including 32 who were shot with live ammunition, in Nablus city, in the northern part of the occupied West Bank.
The Palestinian Health Ministry has identified the Palestinian as Khaled Waleed Tayeh, 22, from Iraq-Tayeh village, east of Nablus.
Khaled succumbed to his wounds, after being shot with a live round in the chest; he died at the at al-Najah Hospital, in Nablus.
The Palestinian Red Crescent said the soldiers injured 110 Palestinians, including 32 who were shot with live ammunition, 26 with rubber-coated steel bullets, and 51 who suffered the effects of teargas inhalation.
It added that the soldiers also rammed one Palestinian with their jeep, causing moderate wounds.
The head of the an-Najah National Hospital in Nablus, Salim al-Haj Yahia, said one of the wounded Palestinians, identified as Anwar Abu Aisha, was instantly rushed to surgery after an Israeli bullet severed the main artery in his thigh, and added that his condition is very serious.
Eyewitnesses said the soldiers fired dozens of live rounds at random, in several directions.
The escalation started after dozens of soldiers invaded the Northern Mountain area, in Nablus, apparently looking for the Palestinian who killed an Israeli settler, identified as Itamar Ben Gal, 29, Monday.
Undercover forces surrounded two homes but were unable to locate and arrest the man they were reportedly looking for, and instead abducted seven Palestinians, not involved in the fatal stabbing.
The Israeli army said it was unable to arrest the “suspected stabber,” and added that the soldiers were “attacked by more than 500 young Palestinian men, who hurled stones and Molotov cocktails at them, while others exchanged fire with the soldiers.”
Media sources in Nablus said the soldiers abducted Hani Ashraf Khalfa, Nayef Tubasi, Tamer Qandeel, Eyad Abu Salha, Mos’ab al-Kawni, and another Palestinian from al-Bistami family, and one who remained unidentified at the time of this report. Video

Dozens of Palestinians on Tuesday took to the streets of Bethlehem’s Duheisha refugee camp, expressing their deep anger over the murder of the Palestinian youth Ahmed Jarrar by the Israeli occupation army at daybreak.
A march kicked off from the Duheisha camp, where protesters yelled slogans condemning the Israeli crimes against the Palestinians and calling for revenge.
The Israeli army claimed responsibility for the murder of the Palestinian anti-occupation attacker Ahmed Jarrar during a military operation in Jenin.
Jarrar’s body was removed from beneath a building which was partly demolished by the Israeli occupation forces.
Jarrar’s family mourned their son’s death and said he was killed following a shootout with the Israeli military.
The Israeli intelligence service Shin Bet said they were notified about Jarrar’s presence in a building in Jenin at the early morning hours before they rolled into the area and cordoned off the building.
In live snapshots taken from the death scene, Ahmed’s body appears to be covered in blood from head to toe, which eye-witnesses said is a sign of the atrocity of the crime committed by the occupation army.

Ahmed Jarrar 22
The Israeli military claimed responsibility for the murder of the Palestinian anti-occupation attacker Ahmed Jarrar during a military operation in Jenin.
In Tuesday reports, Israeli sources claimed Ahmed Jarrar was killed overnight after Israeli military troops rolled into Yamon town and that the victim was holding a bag and an M16 weapon before he was fatally shot.
The Israeli army spokesman said Ahmed Jarrar, whom he identified as “a terrorist”, in reference to his anti-occupation activism, had been chased down over his involvement in anti-occupation shooting in Nablus last month.
He added that Jarrar was killed after he tried to run away from a building in which he had been hiding.
Israeli forces extrajudicially execute Palestinian man accused of killing Israeli settler
On Tuesday morning before dawn, Israeli troops invaded the village of al-Yamoun and killed Ahmad Nasr Jarrar, 22, whom they suspected of the murder of an Israeli, without filing charges or arresting him for the crime.
Extrajudicial assassinations like this one, despite being commonly practiced by the Israeli military against Palestinians, are considered illegal under international law.
The soldiers, including a Canine unit, were heavily deployed in the area, and conducted searches of many homes, in addition to using the rooftops of several buildings as monitoring towers and firing posts. They also demolished a wall and a shed, and uprooted many olive trees, as they set up a perimeter around the ‘wanted’ man’s location.
Mohammad Abu Allan Daraghma, a Palestinian journalist specialized in Israeli affairs, said that Israeli sources reported the military operation was carried out by regular army units and undercover officers.
He added that the army was given “shoot-to-kill” orders, and the soldiers were instructed to shoot Jarrar the moment he was visible to them, without attempting to abduct him.
Israeli media outlets said the soldiers located a large cache of bullets and alleged that Jarrar had been planning a serious attack.
Local media sources reported that Jarrar exchanged fire with the soldiers, and that the soldiers destroyed the home where he was hiding.
Israeli Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman congratulated the army for what he called “the successful operation,” that resulted in Jarrar’s death.
Following the military invasion and the death of the Palestinian, dozens of local youngsters hurled stones at the soldiers, who fired many live rounds, rubber-coated steel bullets and gas bombs.
It is worth mentioning that, on January 18th, the soldiers invaded Wadi Burqin town, west of Jenin, demolished Ahmad’s home, and two other homes, in addition to killing his cousin Ahmad Ismael Jarrar, 31, after they mistook him for his cousin.
On February 3rd, the soldiers killed Ahmad Samir Abu ‘Obeid, 19, with a live round in the head, during a massive military invasion into Burqin.

The Israeli invasion into several areas in the Jenin Governorate started after the soldiers invaded Kafeer village, south of the city, after surrounding it and declaring it a closed military zone.
The soldiers conducted extensive military searches of homes and abducted two siblings, identified as Thieb Walid Ershaid, 43, and his brother Qa’qaa, 42, after surrounding their homes.
The shooting death of Abu Ob’ed came during the invasion of Wadi Burqin by the Israeli military early Friday morning to besiege the home where the army believed that the wanted man Ahmad Nasr Jarrar was hiding.
Ahmad Nasr Jarrar is wanted by the Israeli military for allegedly killing an Israeli settler on January 8th.
Following that Jan. 8th killing, the Israeli military invaded a number of nearby villages and conducted house-to-house searches. On January 18th, the Israeli army besieged a home where they mistook Ahmad Ismail Jarrar for his cousin, and killed him.
The army offered no apology or compensation for the mistaken identity assassination.
