The Israeli occupation navy on Thursday morning attacked Palestinian fishermen and their boats off the coast of the besieged Gaza Strip.
According to local sources, Israeli gunboats opened machinegun fire at fishing boats in Gaza northern waters, forcing them to return ashore.
Luckily, no one was hurt in the shooting attack.
About 351 violations against Gaza fishermen were reported by different human rights groups during 2019.
Israeli naval forces and their gunboats are around Gaza fishermen almost every day, harassing them, shooting at them, damaging their boats, and making arrests. Sometimes fishermen are injured or killed during gunfire attacks.
Under the 1993 Oslo accords, Palestinian fishermen are permitted to fish up to 20 nautical miles off the coast of Gaza, but since then Israel has kept reducing the fishing area gradually to a limit between six to three nautical miles as part of its blockade on Gaza.
Fishermen and human rights groups also say that since the 2008-09 war in Gaza, the Israeli army has been regularly enforcing a limit even closer to the shore.

These raids, which take place also in areas under the full control of the Palestinian Authority, are conducted with no need for a search warrant, whenever and wherever the military chooses in keeping with its sweeping arbitrary powers.
According to Palestinian figures, roughly 5,700 Palestinians -- including numerous women and children -- are currently languishing in Israeli detention facilities.

“Palestine is not for sale,” and “No to the deal of the century,” were only a few of the signs raised, on Tuesday, by the tens of thousands of Palestinians who came from all over the West Bank to demonstrate in the central West Bank city of Ramallah, WAFA reported.
The against the American so-called deal of the century and in support of President Mahmoud Abbas as he prepares to speak at the United Nations Security Council.
Addressing the crowd, Palestinian Prime Minister, Mohammad Shtayyeh said “As the world watches you and all these crowds that fill the streets of Ramallah and Gaza, they will understand the Palestinian reaction (to the deal of the century).”
Similar mass demonstration took place in Gaza City as thousands came out to tell the world that they stand together with the West Bank and the world, against the so-called ‘deal of the century’.
Dozens of Palestinians marched to the nearest Israeli military checkpoint north of Ramallah city where they confronted Israeli soldiers.
Witnesses said that soldiers manning the checkpoint, fired rubber-coated steel bullets and tear-gas canisters at demonstrators as they approached the checkpoint, to which Palestinians responded by pelting the soldiers with stones and burning tires to obstruct the soldiers view.
Several people suffered the toxic effects of tear-gas, and were treated by medics on the scene.

Israeli navy today opened gunfire and water hoses towards Palestinian fishermen who were sailing into the Gaza coast to the west of the Gaza city damaging boats, reported WAFA correspondent.
He said that the fishermen were sailing only three nautical miles into the sea when Israeli navy boats opened gunfire and water hoses at them damaging at least on fishing boat.
As a result, the fishermen had to leave the water and abruptly end their fishing mission, which is their only source of income.
According to B’Tselem, the Israeli military “routinely” abuses fishermen “on various grounds,” explaining: “One reason alleged is boats sailing beyond the permitted area, even when fishermen use GPS devices and ensure they remain within the permitted boundaries.”
Fishermen in Gaza suffer from Israel’s gradual destruction of the fishing sector in Gaza.
Before it imposed the blockade on Gaza, Israel used to permit fishing up to 12 nautical miles from shore. Since imposing the blockade, Israel has changed the area of the permitted fishing zone several times a year, said B’Tselem, the Israeli information center for human rights in occupied territories.
