Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) confiscated on Sunday fishing equipment belonging to one of the Palestinian fishermen after being targeted by Israeli gunboats in Gaza sea.
Quds Press quoted one of the Gazan fishermen, Ahmad al-Bardawil, as saying that an Israeli gunboat opened its machinegunfire at the fishermen while fishing in Rafah sea in the southern Gaza Strip.
The heavy shooting forced the fishermen to end fishing and leave sea, he added.
“After the shooting had stopped, we returned back to our fishing boats and did not find the fishing nets and some other equipment; the rest of fishing stuff were spoiled as well", Bardawil said.
He stressed that they have been repeatedly targeted by Israeli forces despite sailing in the allowed fishing zone of 6 nautical miles. In the same context, Gazan fishing boats which were sailing in the northern Gaza sea were exposed to shooting by Israeli gunboats on Sunday. No casualties have been reported, according to Palestinian sources.
The attack is another episode in the series of Israeli violations of the Cairo-brokered truce accord signed on August 26, 2014 in the wake of the Israeli aggression on the besieged coastal enclave, which killed over 2,300 Palestinians, mostly civilians.

Israeli occupation forces (IOF) have been storming Iraq Burin village every night over the past few days under the pretext of searching for the perpetrators of the stabbing attack carried out in Har Brakha nearby settlement, which resulted in the death of two soldiers.
Iraq Burin is a small quiet village located on a towering rocky hill southwest of Nablus. Har Brakha settlement is located to the east of Iraq Burin.
A part of the settlement is set up on an area of 250 dunums of land which was of Iraq Burin lands. The occupation army leaders believed that the perpetrators of the stabbing attack sought refuge to Iraq Burin village because the settlement and the attack site are near to the village.
“We will storm your village and your homes every night, until we get to the perpetrators of the stabbing attack, even if it lasted a whole year", an Israeli officer said threatening the chairman of the village council of Iraq Burin, Fathi Faqih.
Faqih told a PIC reporter that the IOF continues to carry out raids into the town houses every night. He estimated the homes that were stormed and searched to be about 95% of the homes in the village. The raids are accompanied with interrogations of house owners on whether any of them had information that might lead the IOF to the perpetrators. The house owners are also warned of providing assistance or covering-up the perpetrators.
Under Siege
Immediately after the stabbing attack on Wednesday night, Iraq Burin was turned into a target for the occupation army, which imposed a tight siege on the village and closed the only entrance to the town with sand barriers, and set up a military checkpoint at the entrance to the town, preventing the entry and the exit in or out of it, and thus turned the village into what looks like a big prison.
The young men of the village removed on Friday morning the sand barriers from the entrance to the town, and reopened the road, challenging the occupation. Faqih said that the occupation officer told him on storming his house, that they have information that the perpetrators had entered into the village after the attack, and did not leave yet.
On the front line
Iraq Burin's area is 5775 acres and is inhabited by 1,000 people, the majority of its population works in agriculture, and the village is famous for the cultivation of olives, figs and grapes. Despite the abundance of agricultural land, 42% of the village land is located within the area (C), which is under full Israeli control according to the Oslo agreements.
The occupation authority prohibits the farmers from cultivating and reclaiming these lands without permission, this caused the lands to become wastelands not suitable except for grazing. In the past few years, the village has witnessed weekly clashes during marches organized by inhabitants of the village with the participation of foreign solidarity activists, towards Har Brakha settlement.
These marches often result in injuries among the participants with bullets and tear gas fired by the Israeli occupation forces. Faqih said that the settlers attack farmers if they get to the land near the settlement, and often call the Israeli army, which arrives in large numbers from Hawara and fires tear gas canisters on the citizens forcing them to leave their land.
Iraq Burin is one of relatively small villages of the governorate of Nablus, but the village has had a long history in confronting the Israeli occupation and settlers. Since the beginning of al-Aqsa Intifada in 2000, five of the village's inhabitants were killed by the IOF, among whom were the two members of Qassam Brigades: Mamoun Ibrahim Qadous and Annan Jabr Qadous, who were killed during an armed clash in 2002.

Clashes flared up at predawn time on Sunday after the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) stormed a civilian home in Yabad town, in Jenin, and showered the area with heavy spates of teargas canisters.
Reporting from Jenin, a PIC news correspondent said the IOF rolled into Yabad overnight and unleashed heavy spates of teargas grenades on Palestinian citizens and civilian homes.
The IOF further broke into the family home of the Palestinian citizen Yahya Abu Shamleh and his brothers, in the outskirts of Yabad, and wreaked havoc on the building, before they aggressively attacked the native inhabitants.
The assault has not been the only one of its kind as the IOF soldiers have ravaged Abu Shamleh’s family home for dozens of times before and turned it into a military barrack.

Occupation soldiers raided on Wednesday Silwan Boys Secondary School and stormed into classrooms during the second period.
Wadi Hilweh Information Center was informed that occupation forces raided Silwan Boys Secondary School and searched classrooms claiming that one student threw stones towards them before entering the school; they detained the 9th grade student Malek Issa Abbasi (14). Witnesses explained to WHIC that the forces took the student outside the school but the school’s surveillance cameras revealed falsified the occupation’s claim as the student arrived to school before the time when they claimed stones were thrown. One of the soldiers filmed the students while storming into classrooms and also filmed the building and school’s corridors. |
Secretary of the Central Committee of students’ parents in Silwan, Isam Abbasi, denounced targeting the schools of Ras Al-Amoud as the forces are stationed around them on a daily basis and continuously attempt to storm into schools which obstructs the educational process and deprives the students from having a calm school day.
Abbasi explained that the soldiers raided the classrooms in Silwan Secondary School under false pretenses only to terrify students; he pointed out that the school has nearly 550 students from 7th-9th grade.
Abbasi appealed for the Ministry of Education and municipality to interfere and prevent the police from daily presence in the Schools’ Street and prevent them from storming into school which has negative consequences on the psyche of students. He noted that this school was raided several times and one student was previously arrested from inside the school not to mention the constant targeting of schools with sound grenades and tear-gas canisters.

The Israeli military, Saturday, targeted with gunfire a group of Palestinian farmers as they attempted to enter their agricultural land situated along the borderline area of al-Zaytoun neighborhood, to the southeast of Gaza City.
WAFA correspondence reported that soldiers manning military watchtowers along the Israel−Gaza security barrier -- a border barrier first constructed by Israel in 1994 between the Gaza Strip and Israel -- fired live ammunition and tear gas canisters at farmers, and prevented them from entering their land. No injuries were reported.
Israel continues to breach a truce agreement reached between them and armed Palestinian groups in August 2014, ending a 51 day of military aggression on the Strip.
In the meantime, an unusual military presence was witnessed along the borderline area to the east of the strip, with military reconnaissance hovering over.
The "buffer zone" extends between 500 meters and 1500 meters into the Strip, effectively turning local farms into no-go zone.
According to UNOCHA, 17 percent of Gaza's total land area and 35 percent of its agricultural land lie within the buffer zone as of 2010, directly affecting the lives and livelihoods of more than 100,000 Gaza residents.
Farmers in farmland on the borders say their situation has only worsened since the last war ended in 2014 summer, pointing to the Israeli military’s frequent incursions into their land and its practice of firing live ammunition at farmers who enter the sizable 'buffer zone’ between Gaza and Israel.
Israel has imposed a tightened blockade since 2007 after Hamas won the democratic legislative elections and took over power in the Strip.
