A Palestinian citizen of Israel was violently attacked on Thursday after screaming in Arabic at the scene of a shooting in Petah Tikva in central Israel that left six Israelis injured.
According to Israeli news outlet Ynet, Maed Amar, 35, from Kafr Qasim was attacked by a crowd of Israelis after screaming “Watch out! Take cover,” in Arabic following the sounds of gunshots. He told Ynet that people started attacking him, shouting “there’s another terrorist here!” A video was released documenting the incident. It shows Amar lying on the pavement injured while Israeli security surrounds him. |
According to Ynet, the passersby are shouting “Kill him,” to Israeli forces.
Ynet added that Amar had sustained injuries on his head and leg, and was evacuated to the Beilinson Hospital following the incident where doctors reported his condition as being light.
"It was very scary. They nearly killed me. All I wanted was to warn the people in the area, to keep them safe, but instead of thanking me, that gave me a beating. After my attack, police officers arrived on scene and pushed the assailants away," Amar was quoted by Ynet as saying.
On Thursday, a 19-year-old Palestinian identified as Sadiq Nasser allegedly committed a shooting attack on a market in Petah Tikva. Six Israelis were injured, while Nasser was detained for the attack.
Israeli police spokesperson Luba al-Samri said in a statement at the time that the teen was caught and disarmed by locals before being detained by Israeli police, at which time he was unharmed with the firearm still in his hand.
On Friday morning, Israeli forces stormed the Beita and Osarin villages in the northern occupied West Bank district of Nablus and detained three Palestinians allegedly in connection with the shooting.
Israeli soldiers questioned Nasser's family members for hours at the time, locals said, adding that forces had detained Nasser’s father on Thursday shortly after the attack. It remained unclear if Nasser’s father was still in Israeli custody.
An Israeli army spokesperson told Ma’an that forces also “confiscated” the Israeli-entry permits of Nasser’s family members.

A group of Israeli settlers occupied by force a residential room, stores, and a house yard in Wadi Hilweh village in Silwan town, south of al-Aqsa Mosque, at dawn Friday.
According to Wadi Hilweh Information Center, the Israeli settlers forcibly took control over a 30-square-meter room as well as a house yard with an area of 50 square meters which the family of the Jerusalemite Izzat Salah use as a corridor leading to their house.
The settlers also broke into stores owned by Qaraeen family over an area of about 200 square meters which were used as livestock barns.
Eyewitnesses reported that a group of Israeli settlers, escorted by Israeli police forces, stormed at dawn the Qaraeen's barns and completely cordoned them before changing the locks of the doors and surrounding them with an iron fence. The settlers scuffled with the people who own the barns who were trying to prevent them from approaching their property.
The family members of Izzat Salah are now trapped in their own house as the Israeli police forces, who were present at the scene to secure the Israeli settlers, prevented them from going out after the settlers took over the corridor and closed the iron gate leading to the house, Wadi Hilweh Information Center said.
Following the takeover, the Qaraeen family went to the court in an attempt to get a judicial order to evict settlers from their property.
This is the fourth time the settlers seize property in occupied Jerusalem since the beginning of 2017.
An atmosphere of anger and resentment overshadowed Silwan town and its neighborhoods and inhabitants, especially that settler associations, in cooperation with some brokers and with the support of Israel, constantly seek to seize more Palestinian property in the region and turn them into settlement outposts.

A group of Israeli settlers stormed the evacuated Tarsala outpost to the south of Jenin on Thursday night under the protection of the Israeli occupation forces (IOF).
Local sources told the PIC reporter that the settlers broke into an ancient mosque in the site and remained there for a few hours where they offered Talmudic rituals in blatant provocation to the local residents.
Tarsala is one of four sites evacuated by the IOF in the West Bank in 2005 shortly after the withdrawal from Gaza Strip.

Suleiman Hammad 81
The PIC reporter said that an elderly Palestinian man was killed on Wednesday afternoon after an Israeli settler in a speeding car ran over him while he was crossing the street in a Bethlehem village.
According to the Palestinian Red Crescent in Bethlehem, Suleiman Hammad, 81, died after being run over near al-Khader town, south of Bethlehem city.
This incident is not the first of its kind since many Palestinian citizens were subjected to run over attacks by Israeli settlers while crossing the main roads that link Palestinian cities. The settlers usually speed up while moving on Palestinian lands to reach settlements illegally built on those lands.
However, the Israeli occupation authorities always rush to justify such attacks as unintentional accidents.

Hordes of Israeli settlers on Tuesday morning broke into the holy al-Aqsa Mosque—Muslims’ third holiest site.
According to local sources, four Israeli settler groups stormed the site via the al-Maghareba Gate.
Meanwhile, the Israeli police banned member of the al-Aqsa supervision personnel Diab Subuh from the mosque for 15 days.
Public Relations and Media Chief at the Islamic Awqaf (Endowment) Department, Firas al-Dibis, told Quds Press the ban was issued on claims that the guard attacked an Israeli cop and obstructed police work during the break-in.
According to eyewitnesses, at least 31 settlers forced their entry into the site via the al-Maghareba Gate in the morning break-in shift.
Peaceful Muslim worshipers and sit-inners have, meanwhile, been increasingly targeted by the Israeli forces and settlers at the al-Aqsa place of worship.
