Israeli forces shot and injured a 14-year-old Palestinian boy with live ammunition on Saturday when they opened fire on a march in the West Bank village of Kafr Qaddum, near Qalqiliia.
A local popular resistance coordinator, Murad Shteiwi, said that hundreds of Palestinians took part in the march, which set off following afternoon prayers toward an Israeli barricade that closes off the main entrance on the village's southern side.
Dozens of Israelis soldiers reportedly fired live rounds and tear gas at the protesters, resulting in the injury of 14-year-old Mohammad Abdul Ilah, who was shot in the thigh.
He was taken to Rafidia Hospital for treatment, Shteiwi said.
According to Ma'an, an Israeli army spokeswoman asked to provide comment said she was looking into the incident. Shteiwi said that Saturday's march came in response to an increase in violations as part of the Israeli military-administered occupation.
He said that it was additional to the village's weekly marches, which are held on Fridays and call for the reopening of the village's southern entrance, which has been closed 13 years.
On Friday, dozens of Palestinian and foreign activists suffered excessive tear gas inhalation when Israeli forces dispersed the village's weekly march.
Earlier this month, on June 12, five Palestinians were injured, including two critically, when Israelis forces opened fire on the weekly march.
Kafr Qaddum has lost a large swathes of its land to Israeli settlements, outposts and separation wall, all illegal under international law.
According to the Applied Research Institute of Jerusalem, more than 10 percent of the village's land has been confiscated for the establishment of the settlements alone -- Kedumim, Kedumim Zefon, Jit, and Givat HaMerkaziz.
The internationally recognized Palestinian territories have been occupied by the Israeli military since 1967.

Israeli soldiers invaded, on Sunday at dawn, Beiteen and Ein Yabroud villages, near the central West Bank city of Ramallah, allegedly after shots were fired at an Israeli vehicle near the Beit El illegal settlement built on Palestinian lands belonging to al-Bireh city, and kidnapped three Palestinians.
The army kidnapped the three Palestinians, and turned Beiteen village into a closed military zone, especially due to its close proximity to Beit El.
More than 25 Israeli military vehicles invaded the village, imposed curfew forcing the residents under house arrest, and installed roadblocks completely sealing it, Ali Dar Ali of Palestine TV has reported.
The soldiers broke into and violently searched several homes in Beiteen and Ein Yabroud villages, and interrogated the families, before kidnapping three Palestinians in Beiteen.
The two villages remained surrounded, while dozens of soldiers were still deployed in and around them, until the time of this report.
In a newsflash, Israeli Ynet News claimed the shots were fired at an Israeli ambulance, causing no injuries.
MDA Ambulance hit by gun fire in the West Bank
15 to 19 shots fired at a Magen David Adom ambulance near Beit El in the West Bank; driver escapes injury; Israeli forces search nearby village of Beitin.
Shots were fired Saturday before midnight at a Magen David Adom ambulance near the West Bank settlement of Beit El but no injuries were reportes as of Sunday afternoon.
The damage to the ambulance was clearly evident, apparently from 9mm bullets. After the incident Israeli forces launched searches for suspects in the nearby village of Beitin.
An examination of the scene of the attack near Beit El indicate that a burst of 15 to 19 shots were fired at the Israeli ambulance and at least four of them hit it. The perpetrator fired from the area near the new road that connects Beitin to Ramallah, a road recently paved for the Palestinians. Forces from the all-Haredi Netzach Yehuda Battalion, in charge of the area, led by Colonel Yisrael Shomer, were sent to the scene.
A large amount of soldiers began searching the area to locate the shooter or shooters. Some searched Beitin village south of Beit El. The area where the shooting occurred was closed to traffic for a time.
MDA Director General Eli Bin said in response: "Magen David Adom, the national rescue organization of Israel, consider this incident to be a grave one, which represents a crossing of the red line of trying to deliberately harm a vehicle which treats the wounded and sick, and does evacuations.'
"We are sure that the security forces working around the clock will utilize the justice system to the fullest regarding those responsible, and we hope the Palestinian side will act decisively and firmly in order to prevent similar incidents in the future."
A burst of bullets was fired from the bend in the road before the West Bank Division headquarters near the village of Beitin, at an ambulance from the Jerusalem district. The driver was paramedic Shalom Galil, a Beit El resident in charge of the Benjamin region of the West Bank.
The Beit El council blamed the security establishement which opened the road to Beitin to Palestinian traffic. "The road was closed for more than ten years due to security problems," council head Shai Alon said.
"When it was recently decided to reopen the road I warned the general commanding officer (GCO), the minister of defense, the transport minister and the coordinator of West Bank activities, of the security and traffic risks at the site. The GCO decided to reopen the road anyway, but already on Sunday there was a security incident which led to the road's closing," he added.
"This evening, the attacks originated from the road and the terrorists fled after attacking the ambulance, whose driver was not miraculously injured. The writing was on the wall, and we demand from the security establishment not to open the road, and to also shut its other end so that terrorists will not be able to approach Beit El and escape," he concluded.

An Israeli decision to purchase new defense technology and to update older mechanisms was today revealed by Israeli media.
Israeli television channel ‘Seventh’ this morning revealed the existence of an Israeli decision to purchase dozens of early warning and rocket defense mechanisms in preparation for Israel’s next confrontation with either Hamas in the south or Hezbollah in the north.
The channel said that the most prominent aim of studies relating to these mechanisms was the prevention of loss of human life. Studies indicated the importance of replacing or updating the older mechanisms used in southern Israel during the latest Israeli aggression on Gaza in the summer of 2014.
It quoted a senior Israeli military official as saying: “After the process of compiling the study and of analyzing the results, we realized that the mechanisms now in place are too simple and we have to be more sophisticated”.
The official responsible for defense and control systems in the Israeli Air Force, Farid Nuhi, said that the army estimates that the next conflict with Hamas or Hezbollah will be on a bigger scale and therefore preparation is of the utmost importance so that Israel can take steps to better protect its civilians and weapons facilities.
Nuhi added that the operational need for a more sophisticated system arose due to technological and electronic faults with older equipment, saying that the new missile-defense system will be linked automatically with naval and ground technology in order to provide time to counter any missile attacks electronically.
The modernized system will also link the soldiers on the ground with tanks and planes, allowing them to work efficiently on the ground during battle, according to the military official.
He added that the updated system is easy to operate as it will be linked with the Home Front Command, which will help to warn Israeli citizens of potential rockets as well as warn soldiers in the military areas.
The last Israeli offensive on Gaza lasted 51 summer days, killed more than 2,200 Palestinians, injured 11,000 and displaced more than 100,000 Gazans. Israel’s death toll was 64 soldiers and 6 civilians, due to its extremely effective ‘Iron Dome’ missile-defense system.

Israeli soldiers fired, Friday, gas bombs at Palestinian and international peace activists, during the weekly nonviolent protest against the Annexation Wall and Settlements, in Bil’in village, near the central West Bank city of Ramallah, causing dozens to suffer the effects of gas inhalation.
Coordinator of the Popular Committee against the Wall and Settlements in Bil’in, Abdullah Abu Rahma, said the protesters marched from the village center, carrying Palestinian flags, and posters denouncing the Israeli violations, and chanted for the release of all prisoners.
Abu Rahma added that the protesters also called for the immediate release of hunger striking detainee Khader Adnan, who is currently facing a life-threatening health condition, but ongoing with his hunger strike, demanding an end to his arbitrary Administrative Detention without charges. Adnan started his strike more than 50 days ago.
Abu Rahma also said the protesters carried posters of Emad Rezqa, a wounded Palestinian from Haifa, and posters in Hebrew, Arabic and English, calling for justice for Emad, and for prosecuting the soldier who shot him.
Rezqa was seriously shot in the head, during a nonviolent protest in Bil’in five years ago, and spent several weeks in Intensive Care.
A few days ago, an Israeli court closed the file, and acquitted the soldier who shot him despite the fact that the shooting was unprovoked.
It is worth mentioning that the protesters also carried signs denouncing the Irish Dancing Commission for its decision to participate in a competition in Tel Aviv, on August 15, 2015.
In March, The Carey Academy announced the “1st Israeli Feis,” a competitive tournament of traditional Irish dancing, to take place in Tel Aviv in August.

The Israeli Air Forced fired, on Wednesday at dawn, a missile into a Palestinian agricultural land, in Beit Hanoun, in the northern part of the Gaza Strip, causing fires. Army claimed it was retaliating to a shell fired from Gaza.
Eyewitnesses said the attack did not cause any casualties, but consumed a large agricultural area, and that the Israeli Air Force was still flying over different parts in the besieged coastal region.
On Tuesday evening, the Israeli army claimed one shell was fired from Gaza, into an open area in Hof Ashkelon, causing no injuries or damage, and said it conducted a search campaign, allegedly looking for unexploded ordnance.
Israel held Hamas responsible for the escalation, and said that “although the people behind the recent incidents of rocket fire are not affiliated with Hamas, and affiliate themselves with Al-Qaeda, the movement is to be held liable.”
Head of the Hof Ashkelon Regional Council of settlements, Yair Farjun, said "the conflict between Hamas and al-Qaeda affiliated groups, is not of interest to the Israelis," but warned “Israel will not tolerate any fire from Gaza.”
He also said that Tel Aviv would not even accept “a flotilla,” referring to solidarity ships that challenge the Israeli siege on the coastal region, to deliver medical and humanitarian supplies.
The Israeli official was referring to statements made by Arab Member of Knesset Basel Ghattas, member of the Joint Arab List, who told Israeli Ynet News, Sunday, that he intends to join the flotilla heading from Greece to Gaza, to deliver humanitarian supplies.
