Mohamed Hajila 31
One Palestinian citizen was killed and another was wounded during an Israeli air raid at dawn Thursday on a resistance post east of the Gaza Strip.
An Israeli drone fired two missiles at a resistance post to the east of al-Shuja’iyya neighborhood, leading to the killing of 31-year-old Mohamed Hajila and the injury of another citizen, the PIC reporter said, adding that the casualties were transferred to al-Shifa Hospital
This airstrike was preceded by similar aerial attacks on Abu Jarad military site, which belongs to al-Qassam Brigades of Hamas, in Gaza City.
Spokesman for the Israeli occupation army Avichay Adraee claimed the airstrikes were in response to the detonation of an explosive device near a military vehicle during an incursion into eastern Gaza on Wednesday morning.
The Israeli army already bombed a resistance observation post and agricultural plots of land east of Gaza City with about 20 artillery projectiles in response to the same alleged explosion of an explosive device.
Israeli forces bomb Gaza, killing one Palestinian
After Israeli tanks spent the day on Wednesday firing artillery shells at numerous sites in northern and eastern Gaza, the Israeli military stepped up its assault on the coastal enclave Wednesday night with bombs dropped by the Israeli airforce which killed one Palestinian and injured another.
The Palestinian who was killed was identified as Mohammad Hjeila, 31.
He was hit by a bomb dropped by an Israeli fighter jet Wednesday night east of al-Shejaiyya neighborhood, in the eastern part of Gaza City.
Hjeila was with the al-Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of the Hamas party. His brother, Adham Hjeila, had been killed by Israeli forces in 2004.
The airstrikes on Gaza followed a day of shelling by the Israeli military. On Wednesday morning, a number of Israeli military vehicles and bulldozers invaded Gaza near the al-Mintar (Karni) crossing, an invasion that the Israeli military spokesperson described as ‘routine’.
The Israeli military claimed that during this invasion, an explosive device exploded near one of the militarized bulldozers.
Israeli forces stationed at the border then fired at least five shells east of Gaza City in al-Shejaiyya and al-Zaytoun neighborhoods. A Palestinian was moderately wounded by the shelling and taken to Shifa Hospital in Gaza City.
Later in the evening, the Israeli military sent in fighter jets to drop bombs in the same areas, which they claimed were being used as training sites for resistance fighters. According to Israeli media sources, Palestinian resistance fighters tried to shoot at the jets with guns. One bullet allegedly hit the roof of an Israeli house in a town adjacent to the border with Gaza, causing very slight damage.
In Gaza, dozens of houses near the site of the bombing had their windows blown out due to the ‘sonic boom’ from the bomb.
The Israeli military released a statement, saying, “A number of targets belonging to the Hamas terror organization were attacked. The [Israeli military] sees Hamas as responsible for any incident taking place in and from the strip and won’t allow the terror organization to turn the fence area into a conflict zone.”
This escalation by the Israeli military follows two weeks of non-violent protests by Palestinians in Gaza along the border fence with Israel. The Palestinians protesting at the fence are asking for an end to the decade-long siege of the tiny coastal strip, and the right of return for Palestinian refugees.
Through the siege, Israeli forces, who control the land, sea and air of Gaza, have prevented essential goods like fuel, medicine, building materials, maintenance equipment for electric and sewage plants, vehicles, books, medical equipment and many food items from entering Gaza. Palestinians have also been unable to leave Gaza for the past ten years, apart from very rare exceptions in which Palestinians who apply for a permit from Israel and wait for months or even years are sometimes allowed to leave.

Mohammad Marshoud With His Children
The Israeli colonial settler who shot Mohammad Marshoud in the head has not been taken into custody for the killing, and has not been identified by Israeli authorities.
Initially, the Israeli military tried to claim that Mohammad was holding a knife – a claim which had to be retracted when it was proven untrue.
In addition, photos released by the Israeli military show Mohammad Marshoud lying bleeding on the street, but no screwdriver can be seen anywhere in the scene. No gas station is visible in the area either.
The Palestinian father of three was critically injured by the gunshot to his head and left to bleed on the ground as Israeli soldiers were called to the scene and took their time to secure the area before calling in an ambulance.
Eventually, he was taken by ambulance to the intensive care unit in Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital in Jerusalem. He remained in critical condition on life support until he died of his wounds on Monday.
Mohammad was from Balata refugee camp, east of Nablus. He was the father of three young children, and had no political affiliation or indication in any way that he would engage in any kind of attack.

12 injured east of Gaza, Palestinian succumbs to his wounds
A Palestinian citizen died at dawn Monday of wounds he sustained after being shot by the Israeli occupation forces on the first Friday of the Great March of Return.
Spokesman for Gaza's Ministry of Health Ashraf al-Qedra said that Marwan Qdeih, 45, suffered from a serious injury after he was shot on 30th March when the Israeli army used lethal force to quell the Great March of Return east of Khan Younis in the southern Gaza Strip.
In a related context, medical sources told the PIC reporter that 12 Palestinians were injured by Israeli gunfire on Sunday while taking part in the Return protests.
With Qdeih's death, the number of Palestinians killed since the launch of the Great March of Return has increased to 32, while over 2,850 have been injured.
The Great March of Return is a major popular event where Palestinians protest peacefully along Gaza's eastern border with the 1948 occupied Palestinian territories to call for enforcing the UN resolutions related to the Palestinian refugees issue, especially Resolution 194 which provides for return or compensation.

Palestinian Health Ministry in Gaza Strip said that 29 Palestinians were killed since thousands of Palestinians in Gaza launched the “Great March of Return” on March 30.
Spokesman for the Ministry, Asharaf Qudra, reported that 2850 others were injured as Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) continue violent suppression of the peaceful protest along Gaza borders.
At least 1,296 have been injured with live ammunition, 79 of them are in critical condition, he added.
According to the source, the data did not include the two young men who were shot dead near the border fence as their bodies are still held by Israeli authorities.
Friday’s protests marked one week since the beginning of the "Great March of Return," a weeks-long protests in which almost 1.3 million of Gaza’s 2 million inhabitants who are refugees are demanding their right to return to their original homelands.
The six-week protest is set to end on May 15th, the 70th anniversary of the Palestinian Nakba, or “catastrophe,” when the state of Israel was created, leaving some 750,000 Palestinians and millions of their descendants as refugees.

Dr. al-Qidra reported that Mortaja was shot with a live round in his abdomen while covering a protest in east Khan Younis, near the border fence that imprisons Gaza. He was rushed to the hospital, where he died after several hours.
The Palestinian Journalists Syndicate condemned the killing of Mortaja, and called on international journalist organizations to take a stand for the journalists in Gaza, who are being directly targeted by Israeli forces. In addition to killing Mortaja, the soldiers shot and wounded seven journalists who were covering the protests in Gaza on Friday April 6th.
The Syndicate said they intend to take the case of Mortaja to international court, and to international organizations, and to call on the United Nations to stop the violations, and to implement their own resolutions condemning Israel’s repeated attacks on journalists.
Hamza Abdul-al, 20, from Zoweida village in Deir al-Baleh District in central Gaza, also died Friday night of injuries sustained during the protest earlier that day. Dr. Ashraf al-Qidra of the Palestinian Health Ministry confirmed his death at the hospital where he was taken after being shot with a live round by Israeli forces.
Following the death of the two Palestinians, Dr. al-Qidra said that the Israeli soldiers have killed ten Palestinian civilians in Gaza on Friday April 6th and injured 1,354, including 491 shot with live rounds and expanding bullets. 33 of those who were shot are still in critical condition.
Doctors at the Gaza Central Hospital reported that many of those who were injured by live fire were hit by expanding bullets, which tear apart internal organs and tissues once they enter the body. These types of bullets are illegal under international law for use against a civilian population.
Dr. al-Qidra reported that Mortaja was shot with a live round in his abdomen while covering a protest in east Khan Younis, near the border fence that imprisons Gaza.
