A number of Palestinians, among them minors, were kidnapped by the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) at daybreak Sunday in abduction sweeps rocking the West Bank.
The Israeli army claimed responsibility for the abduction of six Palestinians at predawn time on allegations of involvement in anti-occupation activities.
At the same time, dozens of Israeli settlers, escorted by Israeli soldiers broke into Nabi Younes shrine and performed sacrilegious rituals, sparking tension in the area.
Meanwhile, two Palestinian minors—12-year-old Mohamed Ikhleil and 16-year-old Bashar al-Teit—along with Malek al-Teit, aged 19, were kidnapped by the IOF from their homes in al-Khalil’s northern town of Beit Ummar, in the southern West Bank.
Clashes also flared up shortly after the IOF rolled into Tulkarem city and attacked the Palestinian protesters with spates of teargas canisters, resulting in several suffocation cases.
The Palestinian anti-occupation youths reacted to the assault by hurling stones at the heavily-armed occupation troops.
The IOF also stormed Tulkarem’s refugee camp and kidnapped two Palestinian youths—Asid Ka’biya and Basel al-Belidi—after they wreaked havoc on their family homes.
The Israeli soldiers also stormed the home of the Palestinian ex-prisoner Abdullah al-Aleimi in the city and ravaged the building, triggering panic among the inhabitants.

Israeli forces, Friday, quelled the weekly and peaceful anti-settlement demonstration in the village of Kufr Qaddoum, to the east of Qalqilia, according to a local activist.
Coordinator of the popular resistance committee in the village of Kufr Qaddoum, Murab Shtawi, said Israeli forces used force to suppress demonstrators, who also rallied to protest Israel’s closure of the main road that connects the village of Kufr Qaddoum with the city of Nablus since 2003.
Forces used rubber-coated steel bullets, and tear gas canisters against demonstrators, who responded by burning tires and throwing rocks at the soldiers. No injuries or arrests were reported by WAFA.
“Before 2003, the residents of Kufr Qaddoum would use a shorter road to the east in order to come and go to nearby cities and villages.
However, as the settlements expanded so that they overwhelmed the road, it became closed for Palestinian use, said Addameer Human rights Association
The only alternative road is roughly six times longer than the previous route, disrupting the villagers’ ability to attend university, their jobs, and other vital aspects of their economic and social wellbeing, noted Addameer.
“Three Palestinian deaths relating to the road’s closure occurred between 2004 and 2005,” it said.
Although Kufr Qaddoum’s Popular Resistance Committee took their case to the Israeli High Court in 2003, the legal status of the road remains unchanged, stressed Addameer. After all legal appeals failed, villagers decided to organize weekly demonstrations in July 2011, a step that was met with violent suppression by Israeli forces.

Israeli gunboats on Thursday morning opened machinegun fire at Palestinian fishermen and their boats off the northwestern shores of Gaza City.
Local sources reported that Israeli gunboats randomly opened fire around fishing boats and chased them off the coast of al-Sudaniya area west of Gaza City.
Luckily, no one was injured in the shooting attack, but the intensity of gunfire forced all fishermen to stop working and go ashore.
Israeli gunboats are around Gaza fishermen almost every day, harassing them, shooting at them, damaging their boats, and making arrests. Sometimes fishermen are injured or killed during gunfire attacks.
Under the 1993 Oslo accords, Palestinian fishermen are permitted to fish up to 20 nautical miles off the coast of Gaza. Over the past 18 years, however, Israel has reduced the fishing area gradually to a limit of three nautical miles as part of its blockade on Gaza.
But fishermen and human rights groups say that, since the 2008-09 war in Gaza, the Israeli navy has been regularly enforcing a limit even closer to the shore.
