The Israeli occupation forces (IOF) on Wednesday afternoon shot dead a Palestinian young man after he allegedly fired a gun at them near the Huwara checkpoint in southern Nablus.
The victim was identified as 29-year-old Bilal Rawajba, who worked as a legal consultant at the Palestinian Authority's preventive security service in the Tubas district. He lived with his wife and newborn daughter in the village of Iraq al-Tayeh, east of Nablus.
Israeli soldiers appeared in video footage, which was taken by another Palestinian, firing multiple bullets point-blank at the young man who was aboard his car.

Many Palestinians have been injured or killed in similar incidents under the pretext of alleged attacks.

Eyewitnesses said the soldiers prevented Palestinian medics from approaching the vehicle he was driving, despite his serious wounds, and he bled to death.

He was shot, on Wednesday morning, near Huwwara military roadblock, south of Nablus.
The Maan News Agency published a photo from the incident showing the Palestinian still in the driver seat when he was shot by the soldiers who fired a barrage of live rounds at him.
Several shots, fired by the soldiers, could be heard in a video captured by a Palestinian while waiting in a car near the roadblock.
In a brief statement, the Israeli army said its soldiers foiled what it described as “an attempted shooting attack” by “neutralizing the attacker,” and added that no soldiers were hurt.
In addition, Israeli daily Haaretz quoted the army claiming the Palestinian fired two shots at the soldiers before they fired back and killed him.
The army closed the military roadblock after the incident, preventing the Palestinians from crossing.

Defense for Children International - Palestine (DCI-P) stated on Monday that the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) continue their policy of torture, unlawful and extrajudicial killings against Palestinian children as long as impunity is the rule and as long as the international community is silent about their crimes.
The DCI-P reported in a press release, that IOF had killed 7 Palestinian children since the beginning of this year 2020 in the West Bank and Gaza Strip. The last of whom was Amer Abdel Rahim Sanouber, 16 years, from Yatma village, south of Nablus. Sanouber was killed on the night of October 24, from a severe beating inflicted by the IOF soldiers (Al-Yasam).
Sanouber was trying to help a 17-year-old friend, whose vehicle had broken down near Turmus Aya town, northeast of Ramallah, according to the movement.
It emphasized that under international law, deliberate lethal force is justified only in circumstances where there is an immediate threat to life or serious injury.
Nevertheless, investigations and evidence regularly collected by DCI-P indicate that the occupation forces use lethal force against Palestinian children in circumstances that do not appear to be justifiable and may amount to extrajudicial killing or intentional killing.
In this context, the DCI-P movement referred to the death of the 16-year-old, Muhammad Matar, from Deir Abu Masha'al village, northwest of Ramallah, on August 19, 2020. The IOF soldiers opened fire on Matar and his two friends as they approached a street used by Jewish settlers near the village. This led to his death and the injury of his two friends, noting that the child's body is still being held by IOF until this day.

Dawood Talaat Al-Khatib 45
A Palestinian prisoner died in an Israeli prison on Wednesday evening only few months before completing his 18-year sentence.
Wa'ed Prisoners Commission confirmed the martyrdom of the prisoner Dawood Talaat Al-Khatib from Bethlehem at Ofer prison near Ramallah.
The Palestinian Prisoner Society (PPS) said that Khatib died of a heart attack. Khatib, 45, suffered from bad health conditions during his arrest, it said, adding that he suffered a stroke several years ago and underwent an open heart surgery.
His continued detention has contributed to the deterioration of his health that coupled with medical neglect in Israeli prisons led to his untimely death, the PPS elaborated.
According to PPS, 225 Palestinians have martyred while in Israeli custody since 1967.
It renewed its demand for the release of all sick prisoners in the occupation prisons especially due to spread of the Coronavirus.
The occupation forces arrested Khatib on 2/4/2001 after they besieged his house in Bethlehem and he was scheduled to complete his sentence and be freed this coming December.
Wa'ed called on all Palestinian factions to reject the occupation's narrative about the circumstances of Khatib’s martyrdom and called on the International Committee of the Red Cross to investigate his death.
Tension mounted in Ofer prison after news of Khatib’s death as prison guards raided the cells to quell prisoners’ protests and sprayed them with gas.
