Israeli police opened a barrage of gunfire at a Palestinian youth at Lions’ Gate of Jerusalem’s Old City reportedly after attempting a stabbing attack.
Witnesses said the youth, who was not immediately identified and who most likely was killed despite no official confirmation of this yet, was shot several times and left on the ground bleeding before Israeli paramedics arrived at the scene.
Israeli reports claimed the youth was shot and “neutralized” after he attempted to stab police.
Video clips showed the youth lying motionless on the ground outside Bab al-Asbat, one of the gates leading to Al-Aqsa Mosque. They also showed a large police force at the scene and inside the Old City streets.
As in all similar incidents in the holy city, police shut down all gates of the Old City, particularly the gates to Al-Aqsa Mosque, before reopening them shortly after.

Israeli police today detained a Palestinian woman near the East Jerusalem neighborhood of Jabal al-Mukabbir.
Witnesses confirmed that police detained the woman, who remained unidentified, amid the presence of paramedics.
Israeli media claimed the woman was arrested purportedly for attempting to stab an Israeli passer-by with a knife in the so-called East Talpiot colonial settlement.
WAFA posted a viral video showing the woman wrestled to the ground before being arrested by police.
No injuries were reported though in the alleged stabbing attempt.
The circumstances surrounding the alleged stabbing attempt remain unclear and largely based on the Israeli version of events.
Though Israeli military has claimed that Palestinians were allegedly attempting to carry out attacks, in a majority of instances when Palestinians were killed human rights groups have disputed Israel’s version of events, arguing that many alleged attackers could have been subdued in a non-lethal manner.
Video footages for previous alleged attacks appear to disapprove Israeli military claims, showing alleged Palestinian attackers did not even attempt to carry out any attacks.
Some footages showed Israeli forces manipulating the crime scene following such killings.

Israeli soldiers shot, on Wednesday afternoon, a young Palestinian man east of Khuza’a town, east of Khan Younis, in the southern part of the Gaza Strip.
Media sources said the soldiers shot the young man near the perimeter fence, inflicting moderate wounds before he was rushed to the European Hospital for treatment.
The Israeli army claimed that sharpshooters of the Al-Quds Brigades, the armed wing of the Islamic Jihad fired rounds at military vehicles and soldiers across the fence and that the soldiers fired back.

These attacks have led to hundreds of casualties, including fatalities, mainly among workers, farmers, and fishermen.
