Head of the Yesha Council, David Elhayani, and the head of the Shomron Regional Council, Yossi Dagan
Settler's leaders came out Thursday against U.S. President Donald Trump's peace plan for the Middle East, arguing that it includes the establishment of a Palestinian state.
The heads of the Yesha Council (an umbrella organization of municipal councils of Jewish settlements in the West Bank) warn Washington is not being forthcoming about its intentions.
“[U.S.] government officials are working to advance Plan A, but are secretly working to advance Plan B. There is no bigger scam,” said David Elhayani, the Yesha Council chairman.
Settler leaders say they are worried that the price Israel would be required to pay for extending its authority over West Bank settlements and the Jordan Valley would be the establishment of a Palestinian state.
In fact, Elhayani said that "a Palestinian state would be established on 70 percent of the territory of the West Bank.”
"While the county is preoccupied with the coronavirus, the U.S. government is preparing the ground for the establishment of a Palestinian terrorist state and the well-oiled American public information machine will not stop for a moment as it tries to advance Trump's peace plan in any way possible.
There is a lot of text in the plan meant to confuse the public,” Elhayani said.
U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo announced Wednesday that he travel to Israel for a brief visit next week, during which he would meet with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Blue & White Chairman Benny Gantz.
Pompeo is expected to discuss the Israeli annexation promised by Netanyahu in his election campaign and tacitly agreed to by his coalition partner Gantz.
Both Israel and the United States have yet to complete the mapping of the areas that may be annexed as required in the proposed peace plan.
Yossi Dagan, head of the Samaria Regional Council, also condemned what he said were the administration's true intentions.
"We will not agree to the establishment of a Palestinian state as part of the sovereignty process," he said.
"Sovereignty is an important thing for Israel's security, but it is not worth risking even one centimeter of Israeli land by the establishment of a terrorist state in the heart of the country."
Dagan added that despite the warm relationship with the Americans, the decision to go ahead with annexation has nothing to do with Washington.
"David Friedman [the United States Ambassador to Israel] is a warm and loving Jew," Dagan said. "I know him, and I understand that he is doing everything possible to safeguard Israel's interests. But with all the appreciation I have for Friedman, no American ambassador should worry about us. We chose Netanyahu, not the Americans. "
Friedman said on Wednesday that the Israeli government's intention to extend its sovereignty to parts of the West Bank is in line with U.S. policy.

The Israeli high court of justice has ordered the Israeli government to reply to a petition filed by Jewish temple activists calling for allowing Jews to enter the Aqsa Mosque as long as Islamic Awqaf employees and officials are allowed entry despite the lockdown measure at the holy site.
According to different Hebrew websites, chief judge of the high court Daphne Barak-Erez asked the government to respond within five days to a claim filed by a lawyer representing Jewish groups stating that there was a political agreement between Jordan and Israel regarding the closure of the Aqsa Mosque to Jews and Muslims except for Islamic Awqaf staff during the coronavirus crisis.
The petitioners claim that Jordan and the Islamic Awqaf authority in Jerusalem agreed to stop Muslim prayers at the Aqsa Mosque after the Israeli government promised them, as a condition, to prevent visits by Jews to the Islamic holy site.
They called for allowing Jews to enter the Mosque and tour its courtyards since the agreement accepted the entry of Awqaf staff to the holy site.
Meanwhile, temple groups have announced intents to organize a mass march to the Aqsa Mosque to desecrate its courtyards on Ramadan 29 (May 22, 2020) in order to celebrate what they called Jerusalem day (the occupation of east Jerusalem).

Israeli war minister Naftali Bennett approved on the same day a plan to expand Efrat settlement, which part of the Gush Etzion settlement bloc.
The plan will be carried out on 1,100 dunums of Palestinian land that had been annexed from the West Bank towns of al-Khader and Artas in Bethlehem in order to build thousands of settler homes.

Fanatic Israeli settlers today assaulted a Palestinian shepherd and stole his sheep near Burqa village, located to the northwest of the occupied West Bank city of Nablus, according to sources.
Ghassan Daghlas, a Palestinian official who monitors Israeli settlement activities in the northern West Bank, told WAFA that over 10 settlers assaulted a Palestinian shepherd as he was grazing his flock of sheep close to the evacuated illegal Israeli colonial settlement of Homesh, which was built on land belonging to Burqa villagers, and stole 70 of his sheep.
The shepherd was identified as 50-year-old Harbi Abdo from the neighboring village of Beit Imrin.
Palestinian Red Crescent medics provided medical treatment for Abdo, who suffered from bruises across his body besides to a foot fracture.

A group of illegal Israeli colonialist settlers, squatting on Palestinian lands in direct violation of International Law, bulldozed a large area of Palestinian lands near the southern West Bank city of Hebron, Tuesday, to prepare for a new segregated road.
Eyewitnesses said the colonists, accompanied by a large number of Israeli soldiers invaded and uprooted the Palestinian lands in Doura town, south of Hebron.
They added that the colonists drove large machines, including bulldozers and started uprooting the lands, owned by members of Sweity and Jadallah Palestinian families.
The colonists are apparently preparing for a new road to link with their illegal colony, Negohot, which was built on private Palestinian lands.
All of Israel’s colonies in the occupied West Bank, including those in and around East Jerusalem, are illegal under International Law, the Fourth Geneva Convention, and all related international treaties.
Article 49 of the 1949 Fourth Geneva Convention states that “The Occupying Power shall not deport or transfer parts of its own civilian population into the territory it occupies.”
In its additional Protocol, Article 85(4) of 1977 states that ““the transfer by the Occupying Power of parts of its own civilian population into the territory it occupies” is a grave breach of the Protocol.
The International Criminal Court (ICC) Statute of 1988, Article 8(2)(b)(viii) states that “the transfer, directly or indirectly, by the Occupying Power of parts of its own civilian population into the territory it occupies constitutes a war crime in international armed conflicts.”
