Israeli soldiers attacked, Sunday, dozens of Palestinians nonviolently protesting the abduction and imprisonment of the governor of occupied Jerusalem, Adnan Gheith, causing many injuries, and abducted one.
The soldiers and the police fired dozens of concussion grenades at the protesters, and assaulted many of them with clubs and batons, causing many to suffer various cuts and bruises.
The soldiers also attacked and injured another Palestinian, identified as Jawad Siyam, before abducting him.
The Palestinians were nonviolently marching against the ongoing and escalating Israeli violations in the occupied Palestinian capital, and called for the immediate release of the governor, before the soldiers resorted to the excessive use of force against them.
The protesters affirmed that Israel’s violations, including the abduction of the governor, are part of Israel’s attempt to enforce its illegal occupation and control of the city, and added that the Palestinians will remain steadfast and will continue their struggle for liberation and independence.
They called on the international community to stand with the Palestinians, facing some of the most dangerous and racist violations by Israel, which denies their basic rights in their homeland.
It is worth mentioning that an Israeli court remanded the governor until the next hearing on Thursday.
His lawyer, Rami Othman, said the Central Court in occupied Jerusalem, will be looking, on Monday morning, into an appeal against the governor’s remand.

The Israeli-Palestinian peace plan being prepared by US President Donald Trump is “a waste of time,” extremist Israeli Justice Minister Ayelet Shaked said, on Wednesday.
Speaking before hundreds of ambassadors and attachés, at the Jerusalem Post Diplomats’ Conference, in Jerusalem, Shaked added that the differences between Israelis and Palestinians are too great.
“I want peace like everyone else,” she said, “but, I do not believe an agreement can be reached. I would tell Trump: ‘Do not waste your time.'”
Days of Palestine further reports that Shaked also spoke about the demand made by her party, the Jewish Home, to appoint party leader Naftali Bennett as defence minister – an ultimatum that threatens the stability of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government.
“The prime minister needs a strong defense minister at his side,” she said. “Unfortunately, he thought otherwise. We are a strong country, and Hamas is just a terror organization. But, in recent years, we’ve lost our deterrence.”
On Gaza, Shaked predicted the cease-fire will only last a few months, and then, “there will be no choice but to fight Hamas with all means.”
Earlier at the conference, Strategic Affair minister Gilad Erdan said that Israel is “closer than ever” to controlling parts, or all, of Gaza.
Erdan said that “moving from defense to offense against Hamas means targeted assassinations of leaders of Hamas’ military wing.”
This, Erdan said, “means being ready to take control of the Gaza Strip and hold it until we dismantle the terrorist infrastructure, Today we are closer than ever – since the devastating disengagement plan – to having to control parts of the Strip, or all of it.”

Near the house, we found all of their water tanks punctured by stab marks, fencing around the property ripped from the perimeter, and their television’s satellite dish destroyed.
Further out in the courtyard were more signs of damage, including attempted arson. One of the residents showed us a Molotov cocktail made from a beer bottle with cloth inside. “He wanted to burn down the flat,” he said, making a point to show us the front of the bottle: “From Israel. Look. Do you see that? Shandy”, an Israeli brand of beer.
Their property sits less than two kilometers away from two Israeli settlements, and one outpost, including the settlement Kem A’erm, where the attackers reside.
