Israeli settlers, Friday, chopped down dozens of olive trees belonging to the Palestinian village of As-Sawiya, south of Nablus city, said a local activist.
Ghassan Daghlas, who monitors settlement activities in the northern West Bank, said a number of Israeli settlers from the nearby Rachalim settlement overnight chopped down a total of 43 olive trees using chainsaws in al-Wad area, north of As-Sawiya village.
The chopped olive trees reportedly belongs to Juma’h Fathallah, a resident of the village, according to WAFA.
Settler violence against Palestinians and their property is routine in the West Bank, and is rarely prosecuted by Israeli authorities.
Palestinian residents of Nablus and surrounding villages are accustomed to acts of violence committed by notoriously aggressive ultra-religious Israeli settlers, who regularly set fire to Palestinian farmlands and attack vulnerable Palestinian homes under protection of Israeli forces.
Over 600,000 Israeli Jewish settlers live in settlements and settlement outposts across the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, in contravention of international law.
Approved by successive Israeli governments, settlement construction is part of an Israeli effort to colonize as much of the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, as possible.
All settlements across the West Bank are illegal under international law, particularly article 49 of the Fourth Geneva Convention, which establishes that the occupying power shall not deport or transfer parts of its own civilian population into the territory it occupies.
Israeli demolition orders issued in Qalqilia
The Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) issued at dawn Friday a number of demolition orders against Palestinian-owned facilities east of Qalqilia.
Wafa news agency affirmed that IOF distributed 11 demolition orders in Jeet town east of the city.
The notified homeowners were given 27 days to appeal against the demolition orders, the sources pointed out.
Meanwhile, a group of Israeli settlers uprooted 43 olive trees in Sawya town south of Nablus early today.
Local activist Ghassan Duglas affirmed that a number of Israeli settlers stormed the town and uprooted dozens of trees belonging to the citizen Jomaa Kaiallah.

“The story of how I managed to survive an aggressive assault by a horde of Israeli extremist settlers is just a miracle,” said 16-year-old Osama Dughlas.
“I had been made to endure heavy beating,” said the child while traces of torture and violent blows still figure on his body. “I just can’t believe my eyes. My survival was an act of divine intervention.”
Dughlas was assaulted by Israeli settlers near the evacuated Homesh settlement outpost while he was playing in the vicinity of his family home with his cousin.
“I remember that I suffered blows all over my body, before I was thrown in a remote and abandoned area,” he said.
The child’s father, Jameel Dughlas, said Osama sustained bruises and injuries as a result of the assault.
“My son survived a true moment of death thanks to Allah’s will,” the father stated. “The Israelis were going to kill him. They just had it in mind beforehand.”
“The attack was carried out in the presence of Israeli soldiers,” he added. “My family has gone through sleepless nights because of such moments of terror.”
He attributed such arbitrary assaults against Palestinian children and civilians to Israeli intents to force the inhabitants out of their homes in favor of Israeli settlement.
Several Palestinians were killed and dozens more injured in deadly attacks by Israeli settlers residing in illegal outposts throughout the occupied Palestinian terrorists.
Last year, an 11-month Palestinian toddler, his father, and mother, were burned to death in an arson attack carried out by Israeli fanatics in Duma, south of Nablus, sparking furor across the occupied territories.

Local sources reported that a young man from Beit Ummar town in al-Khalil was seriously injured in the accident that took place near Husan village.
Activist Yousuf Abu Maria told Safa news agency that Khalil Abu Maria, 32, was hit by the car while selling vegetables and fruits on the road leading to Beitar Illit settlement.
Abu Maria pointed out that an Israeli ambulance transferred the injured youth to Hadassah hospital in Jerusalem, adding that his heath condition was described as serious but stable.

The Israeli police forcibly evicted early Tuesday morning a Palestinian family from their house in the occupied Jerusalem neighborhood of Sheikh Jarrah, claiming the property belongs to Israeli settlers.
The PIC reporter affirmed that Israeli police and border forces stormed in large numbers the neighborhood at dawn time and forcibly evacuated the Shamasna family members and they started to move their furniture and belongings into a truck.
Accompanied by police, a group of settlers entered the evacuated home and locked its doors.
Shamasna family are composed of ten members including an elderly man, his wife, and six children.
During the eviction, owner of the house Haj Ayoub Shamasna, 82, shouted, “This is the true face of occupation. This is the way of the racist (Israeli) government.”
"The soldiers violently stormed the house without any prior notice before throwing all our belongings in the street," he told PIC reporter.
Following the eviction, the family remained outside the house along with a number of peace activists.
Shamasna family, who were living in the house since 1964, said the evacuation order is illegal and based on fake documents handed over by Israeli settlers to an Israeli court.
Dozens of Palestinian families in Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood are also threatened with eviction as Israeli occupation authorities plan to establish new settlement outposts in the area.
Israeli police forcibly evict Palestinian family, install Israeli teens in their home
The Shamasna family, which has lived in their home in East Jerusalem for 53 years, was forcibly evicted Tuesday by Israeli police, who then allowed three armed Jewish Israeli teenagers to take over the home.
The eviction came just two weeks after an Israeli judge had ruled that the eviction should not be carried out, after challenges were presented by the family’s lawyer on the lack of documentation of the plots of lands in the neighborhood on the municipal level.
According to members of the Shamasna family, Israeli police officers along with special units and intelligence officers entered the neighborhood with armored vehicles and trucks early Tuesday. The heavily armed police and officers woke the family and forced them out of their home, then loaded their belongings onto trucks.
In addition, the police closed all access to the street, preventing their friends and family from coming to their assistance. Those evicted include 84-year old Ayyub and his 75-year old wife, both of whom suffer from numerous health problems. They were forced out onto the hot street, where they stood in the sun as 3 Israeli teenagers entered their family home and took it over, laughing and pointing their weapons at the elderly couple.
Some of the younger Shamasna family members tried to stage a sit-in to prevent the eviction of their home, but they were dragged out onto the street by the Israeli police.
The eviction of the family was based on an Israeli law which allows Jewish Israelis to take control of property believed to have been owned by Jews prior to Israel’s creation in 1948. But the Shamasna family took the case to court, saying their family had lived there for generations, and there was no indication of pre-1948 ownership by Jews.
There is no reciprocal law for the hundred of thousands of Palestinians to reclaim land that was lost to them when they were forced from their homes in 1948 when Israel was created on Palestinian land.
According to the family, “After the Nakba (1948), we paid rent to the Jordanian government’s Custodian of Enemy Property, and after the occupation of the West Bank in 1967, the property moved to the Custodian General of the Israeli occupation authorities, who then coerced all residents to sign a renewable yearly lease. Then in 2009, they refused to renew the lease claiming that there were Jewish heirs. The alleged heirs filed legal procedures at Israeli courts asking to evacuate us, and since that time we have been fighting legal battles in courts to try and keep our house. A final decision to evacuate the house was made in 2016.”

A horde of extremist Jewish settlers at dawn Tuesday attacked the homes of Palestinian citizens in Umm al-Khair hamlet, east of Yatta city in the West Bank province of al-Khalil.
Local residents said that settlers from the illegal settlement of Karmel started attacking the hamlet after midnight Monday with stones and made several attempts to break into homes, adding the settlers continued to do so until Tuesday dawn hours.
They added that the residents confronted the settlers and engaged in clashes with them.
A local activist said that two citizens from the hamlet and one Jewish assailant suffered injuries during the clashes between the two sides, adding that an Israeli military force intervened to protect the settlers.
Umm al-Khair hamlet has been exposed to similar settlers’ attacks since last Wednesday.

A group of illegal Israeli colonists invaded, Monday, privately-owned Palestinian lands in Jaloud village, south of the northern West Bank city of Nablus, and installed mobile homes and a tent, in an area just a few meters away from a new under-construction colony.
Ghassan Daghlas, a Palestinian Authority official who monitors settlement activities in the northern West Bank, told the WAFA Palestinian News Agency that the colonists prepared a road leading to the newly installed homes, which were set up on nearly 30 Dunams of agricultural lands.
Daghlas added that the Israeli army recently prevented the Palestinians from entering their lands to harvest their wheat, and today, the colonists started installing their new colony on the same lands, just meters away from “Amichai” under-construction illegal colony, which is being built to relocate colonists who were removed from Amona colonialist outpost this past February.

The Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) arrested Sunday a Palestinian activist during an anti-settlement demonstration in al-Khalil to the south of West Bank.
Local sources identified the detainee as Raed Abu Armila, reporting that he was rounded up when clashes broke out between Israeli settlers and Palestinian protesters.
The demonstration was organized in protest against granting Israeli settlers administrative power to manage their own affairs in al-Khalil.
During the event, protesters called for removing all Israeli military restrictions in the city.
Some 800 settlers alongside 250,000 Palestinians reside in al-Khalil. Israeli occupation authorities granted the settlers the right to manage their municipal affairs.
The Israeli army explained in a statement that the settlers were managing their daily affairs through a local council that did not have legal status.
Through the latest decree, the settlers will be able to form a council that represents the Jewish settler quarter in al-Khalil.
The Israeli anti-settlement Peace Now organization said that the decision strengthens the apartheid regime in the city.

Israeli soldiers assaulted, Sunday, dozens of Palestinians marching nonviolently against the Annexation Wall and colonies, in the center of Hebron city, in the southern part of the occupied West Bank, and abducted a local volunteer with the Israeli Information Center for Human Rights in the Occupied Territories (B’Tselem).
The residents were marching against the Israeli decision to isolate the Old City from its surrounding areas, and the illegal Israeli apartheid polices against the indigenous Palestinian inhabitants. The new Israeli policies provide increased power for the illegal Israeli settlers to act with impunity against Palestinians.
As they marched, they chanted and called for the removal of the Annexation Wall, the removal of all Israeli colonies, including the removal of the illegal settlers occupying Abu Rajab family home, in the Old City.
They called for a life with dignity, free from occupation, colonization and oppression, and for resistance to Israel’s illegal policies of segregation and apartheid, especially the recent Israeli decision signed by the Head of the Central Command, Major General Roni Numa, establishing a municipal services administration for the Jewish settlers in Hebron.
The procession was organized by the Youth Coalition Against Settlements, the International Committee Against Racism and Apartheid, in addition to the Salayma and Gheith families.
The demanded an end to the illegal Israeli occupation of Palestine, the preservation of the Palestinian identity of Hebron city, freedom of movement and basic rights of dignity and liberty as stated by International Law.

The soldiers resorted to excessive force against the nonviolent protesters, and abducted Ra’ed Abu Mayyala, 35, who is also a volunteer with the Israeli Information Center for Human Rights in the Occupied Territories (B’Tselem).
Issa Amro, the coordinator of the Youth Coalition against Settlements, said this activity is the beginning of various demonstrations against an illegal Israeli order to “develop the Jewish quarter in Hebron” to officially recognize it as a settlement under the full control of the “Civil Administration Office.”
This could mean the removal of native Palestinians, and the illegal confiscation and annexation of their property.
Amro added that preparations are underway for an international campaign titled “Hebron is a Palestinian City and not for Settlers,” aiming at ending the apartheid and segregation polices in the city, and reopening all closed Palestinian roads and homes, by removing the illegal colonists from the heart of the city.
Responding to the decision, the Israeli Peace Now Movement said, “By granting an official status to the Hebron settlers, the Israeli government is formalizing the apartheid system in the city. This step, which happened immediately following the announcement of the evacuation of the settlers who took over a house in Hebron, is another illustration of the policy of compensating the most extreme settlers for their illegal actions.
“It appears that the order does not create a new local authority or a new community within a regional authority, but rather a settler body with a certain degree of administrative power. Needless to say, this body will not include any Palestinian representation.”

Fanatic Jewish settlers at dawn Saturday attacked a Palestinian ambulance car of the Palestinian Red Crescent Society in al-Shuhada Street at the Old City of al-Khalil.
The PIC reporter said that a group of extremist settlers of Beit Romano and Beit Hadassah settlement outposts attacked the ambulance car that was summoned to convey a Palestinian sick child, suffering a serious health condition, to hospital.
The settlers stopped the ambulance and assaulted the driver from the window and hit the car with iron pipes and guns, eyewitnesses said.
The PIC reporter added that the attacking process lasted for 35 minutes. Meanwhile, the sick child had to wait until the ambulance was allowed to pass and access his home after the intervention of the Red Crescent Society.

The Israeli Army’s Spokesperson Unit announced that the Head of the Central Command, Major General Roni Numa, signed a military order establishing a municipal services administration for the Jewish settlers in Hebron.
The order was signed following administrative work by the Military Advocate General, the Civil Administration, the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of the Interior.
“By granting an official status to the Hebron settlers, the Israeli government is formalizing the apartheid system in the city. This step, which happened immediately following the announcement on the evacuation of the settlers who took over a house in Hebron, is another illustration of the policy of compensating the most extreme settlers for their illegal actions.”
Details:
It appears that the order does not create a new local authority or a new community within a regional authority, but rather a settler body with a certain degree of administrative power. Needless to say, this body will not include any Palestinian representation.
We are currently trying to obtain the military order and the legal opinion leading to it, in order to be able to further understand the implications of this development.
Possible implications:
1) Although the settlers already treat specific areas in the city as their own, this split in local governance formalizes the apartheid system in Hebron, with the approval of Minister of Defense Lieberman.
2) It is still unclear whether the new “municipal services administration” will have authority on infrastructure in the area, but if so, this would constitute a violation of the Hebron Protocol from 1997, according to which the responsibility and authority over infrastructure are in the hands of the Palestinians.
3) We can assume that the establishment of the “municipal services administration” will lead to the handling of budgets directly by the settlers, rather than by the Civil Administration, something which is also likely to result in less transparency in fund allocation.

Palestinian medical sources have reported, Friday, that a child was seriously injured after being rammed by a speeding car, driven by an Israeli colonist near Keryat Arba’ illegal colony, in Hebron city, in the southern part of the occupied West Bank.
The sources stated that the child, identified as Samira ‘Ala al-Ja’bari, only six years of age, suffered various wounds, especially in the head, and was rushed to Hadassah Israeli medical center, in Jerusalem.
In related news, Israeli soldiers invaded Masafer Yatta area, south of Hebron, and broke into a tent and a cave, owned by Nasser Nawaj’a, and his family, causing excessive damage to furniture and spilled food supplies.
Furthermore, colonists of the Susiya nearby illegal colony, hurled stones at Palestinian homes owned by members of al-Hathaleen family.

Dozens of Israeli settlers stormed on Thursday morning al-Aqsa Mosque—the third holiest site in Islam—via the Maghareba Gate.
84 Israeli settlers, escorted by policemen, broke into al-Aqsa Mosque as part of the morning break-in shift and carried out a round of sacrilegious tours.
