Israeli occupation forces (IOF) on Monday arrested a Palestinian citizen and wounded others in Shoufa village in the West Bank district of Tulkarem.
Local sources said that dozens of Palestinian citizens took to the streets to prevent the IOF from razing privately-owned lands to build a new settler road in Shoufa village.
The IOF violently assaulted the protesting citizens and showered them with tear gas canisters.
An anti-settlement activist named Omar Hamed, 40, was beaten and arrested in the attack, while a number of citizens suffered breathing difficulties as a result of inhaling tear gas.
All those affected by the IOF tear gas were treated in the field, according to eyewitnesses.
Local residents told the Palestinian Information Center’s reporter that the Israeli authorities are planning to establish a large industrial area on seized lands from the village.
They added that, with the help of human rights institutions, they have filed a petition with an Israel court against the land seizure and the planned move, and they are still waiting for the court’s decision.

The wounded young man was rushed to a hospital in Bethlehem city.
Later, Israeli plain-clothes soldiers kidnaped 28-year-old Saddam Dar al-Hajj near al-Khader International Stadium in southern Bethlehem.
The IOF also stormed at dawn Monday the towns of Beit Sahour and Dawha in Bethlehem province, raided several homes and kidnaped three young men.
In Nablus, the IOF kidnaped a young man identified as Othman Qatnani from Askar area.
Other three young men were kidnaped by the IOF from their homes during dawn campaigns in Qalqilya city, al-Khalil city and Az-Zawiya town in Salfit.

Israeli occupation forces today shot and injured a mute and deaf elderly Palestinian man at Qalandia checkpoint located between Jerusalem and Ramallah, according to witnesses and Israeli reports.

A Palestinian was seriously injured after an explosive device left behind by the Israeli army exploded near al-Zaytoun neighborhood to the southeast of Gaza, said sources.
