A horde of Israeli settlers on Tuesday afternoon torched large areas of Palestinian land in Madama village in the West Bank district of Nablus.
Eyewitnesses reported that the fire destroyed dozens of olive trees owned by Palestinian citizens in Madama and neighboring villages.
They said that Israeli occupation forces deliberately hindered the work of Palestinian civil defense crews who rushed to the scene to put out the fire and fired tear gas canisters at them.
Madama residents said that a few days ago, the same Israeli settler group, who come from Yitzhar Settlement, seized a water well in their village and set up a pump to steal water from it and transfer it to their houses.
Settler violations are almost a daily occurrence in the West Bank, and Madama village in Nablus is one of the hardest-hit areas.

Israeli navy Wednesday morning opened fire towards Palestinian fishermen sailing offshore As-Sudaniya, northwest of Gaza city, and farmers, southeast of Gaza city, WAFA correspondent reported.
He confirmed that the fishermen were sailing only three nautical miles offshore the area when Israeli naval boats opened gunfire and water hoses towards them.
The fishermen had to leave the water and abruptly end their fishing mission, which is their sole source of livelihood. No injuries were reported though.
Meanwhile, Israeli forces manning the border fence fired live rounds and tear gas at a group of farmers who were tending to their groves to the east of the al-Zaytoun neighborhood, southeast of Gaza city.
The farmers were forced to leave their groves and no injuries were reported among them.
Fourteen years following the Israeli “disengagement” from Gaza, Israel has not actually disengaged from Gaza; it still maintains control of its land borders, access to the sea and airspace.
Two million Palestinians live the Gaza Strip, which has been subjected to a punishing and crippling Israeli blockade for 12 years and repeated onslaughts that have heavily damaged much of the enclave’s infrastructure.
Gaza’s 2-million population remains under “remote control” occupation and a strict siege, which has destroyed the local economy, strangled Palestinian livelihoods, plunged them into unprecedented rates of unemployment and poverty, and cut off from the rest of the occupied Palestinian territories and the wider world.
Gaza remains occupied territory, having no control over its borders, territorial waters or airspace.
Meanwhile, Israel upholds very few of its responsibilities as the occupying power, failing to provide for the basic needs of Palestinian civilians living in the territory.
Every two in three Palestinians in Gaza is a refugee from lands inside what is now Israel. That government forbids them from exercising their right to return as enshrined in international law because they are not Jews.

The Israeli occupation navy on Sunday morning attacked Palestinian fishermen and their boats off the northern shores of the besieged Gaza Strip.
According to local sources, Israeli gunboats tried to capsize fishing boats and showered them with skunk water.
The attack forced the fishermen to return ashore, but luckily no one was hurt.
Israeli naval forces and their gunboats are around Gaza fishermen almost every day, harassing them, shooting at them, damaging their boats, and making arrests. Sometimes fishermen are injured or killed during gunfire attacks.
Under the 1993 Oslo accords, Palestinian fishermen are permitted to fish up to 20 nautical miles off the coast of Gaza, but since then Israel has kept reducing the fishing area gradually to a limit between six to three nautical miles as part of its blockade on Gaza.
Fishermen and human rights groups also say that since the 2008-09 war in Gaza, the Israeli army has been regularly enforcing a limit even closer to the shore.

Clashes erupted today after the occupation forces raided Balata refugee camp, near Nablus city, during which the latter fired live bullets at the protesters to disperse them, injuring two in the pelvis and knee respectively.
At least one Palestinian, 22 years old, was detained by the forces during the raid.
Earlier, the occupation forces detained two Palestinians in Tulkarm governorate, north of the West Bank, and two others in Hebron governorate, south of the territory.
Almost on a daily basis and typically at nighttime, Israeli occupation forces raid towns and villages in the occupied West Bank to carry out arrests or summon civilians for questioning. This has been part of the daily life under Israeli military regime for decades.
Israeli Forces Injure Many Palestinians, Including Medic at Peaceful Demonstration Near Nablus
Two Palestinian civilians were injured, on Saturday, and many others choked on tear-gas fired by the Israeli forces, at a nonviolent protest in the village of Beita, Palestinian WAFA News Agency reported.
WAFA correspondent stated that Palestinians held a demonstration, south of Nablus City in the northern occupied West Bank, to express their total rejection of illegal Israeli settlement activities.
Israeli forces fired rubber-coated steel rounds, stun grenades and tear-gas canisters to suppress the peaceful protesters, at least one was shot and injured by a rubber-coated steel round in his left arm.
Another protester was wounded, suffering severe bruising, when he was run over by Israeli soldiers who were chasing protesters. Both were transferred to Rafidia Public Hospital in Nablus for necessary treatment.
Other protesters, including medics, suffered the toxic effects of tear-gas inhalation.
The Jerusalem Press identified the Palestinian injured by a steel round as Ayoub Hamyal, 32, and added that a paramedic from the Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PRCS) suffered the effects of tear-gas inhalation.
It also noted that the concussion grenades and tear-gas canisters started fires in some areas of agricultural fields.
Palestinian factions called for demonstrations to confront the attempts by illegal Israeli settlers to expropriate Palestinian land.
Local official, Ghassan Daghlas, in charge of monitoring Israeli colonial activities in the area, told WAFA that Israeli colonists set up 6 tents in Jabal Sbeih area, near Beita village, in an apparent prelude to seize Palestinian-owned land, to establish a new illegal settlement outpost.
